Always amused me how a generation of kids who claim to hate Nirvana rushed out in droves to buy records from a band that SOUNDED EXACTLY LIKE THEM.

Wait a minute!

Do they sound like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, The Doors, Stone Temple Pilots, Alice in Chains or bland Christian bands? Guys, please make up your mind.

Okay, how about a bland christian version of Pearl Jam (who Stone Temple Pilots were sometimes accused of sounding like)
Now if only they'd get taken off of the radio playlists altogether, we could forget the whole thing ever happened.

Now if only nickelback, staind, puddle of mud, matchbox twenty, eve 6, vertical horizon, third eye blind, the verve pipe, limp bizkit, pod, godsmack, 3 doors down, saliva, tantric, & other sound-a-likes would break up, quit, die or
whatever.

1 down SO many more to go and thats not counting other sh!t genres like RAP, R&B, POP, etc.

i notice all the remaining members are working projects that will be released through the record label that released creed. looks like they didn't fufill their contract obligations and still owe a few albums worth of material.

the girl on the radio basically said that the rest of the band members kicked out scott and formed a new band. so it's a reverse days of the new situation.

tantric rules, btw.

The band sold 30 MILLION on 3 albums, they must be a little better than ok. But, I'm probably wrong, because ATOT is the be all, end all of music truth.

they were insincere, pretentious, posers, watered-down, whiny, unoriginal, formulaic, dull, and, most importantly, over-exposed.

they sold 30 million records because their music was "safe." it didn't require any thinking, it didn't require any emotional involvement, and it followed strict pop-song formulas. this is the same reason britney sells millions of records. it has nothing to do with talent. it has everything to do with marketing to people who don't like music, but like background noise so they don't feel lonely. it's music for those people who always have a tv on even if they're not watching it.

you have to realize there is no correlation between "good" and successful, only between "fits the formula" and successful. you CAN be good and fit the mold, sell lots of records, and not have people hate you. examples: beatles, radiohead, pink floyd, etc. you can be good and not fit the mold and never make it "big," but still support yourself. or you can be bad but fit the mold, like creed, britney, new kids on the block, good charlotte, etc. lastly, you can be bad and not fit the mold, in which case you're in the wrong buisness.

I will only disagree with Staind as I think Aaron Lewis is an excellent song writer/performer.

That's really shallow of you. Even if you don't like the music, you'd still have to be able to recognize how the bands you listed have different sounds and different styles of playing different music. If you can't see that, and do your broad-overgeneralizing blanket statements, then why should I listen to your taste in music?

Oh, right, and who is forcing you to listen to Nickelback, Staind, Puddle of Mudd, Matchbox 20, Eve6, Vertical Horizon, Third Eye Blind, The Verve Pipe, Limp Bizkit, Godsmack, Three Doors Down, Saliva, and Tantric? Oh, right...

Uhh guys, they are just breaking up "creed" and then like 75% of them are forming this Alter edge or some bs band. Is not a POS a POS by any other name?

It can only be an improvement, imo. Creed might've been a better band without Stapp fronting them.

It appeared to me that his problem was more related to his own stupidity and arrogance than his ignorance of the rules. He came off like perhaps the dumbest man alive, yet constantly sure of himself. What an ass.

I know I will get flamed for this, but Christian rock is a genre that should never have been born, and Creed's suckiness was, it seems to me, largely a matter of the fact that they were a Christian rock band who were denying it in order to further their success (something that was undeniably a success, at least to a point).

There's plenty of wonderful gospel music out there, and God knows (no pun intended) there are hundreds of beautiful hymns and other great religious music, but to me rock is fundamentally a rebellious, irreverent genre, and so Christian rock is inherently likely to sound tame and bland.

different sound and different styles? come on - a majority of these bands are so similar in style you could swap the members & would never know.

you want to know WHO? well that's easy, clearchannel is every time I listen to the radio & thank God that is very seldom.

and to call me shallow seems odd when all I want is a little diveristy - hell i wouldn't hate these bands half as much if they didn't play the same crap over & over & over

WTF is the point of listening to the radio if you hear the same song every hour? Or a song that sounds like the previous
