Umm... old news. I heard they broke up months ago.

Of course maybe this is the first official announcement, but still.

Only true fans know about this stuff!
It was on our local radio station. They made a big deal about it because it meant they needed to find a new band that could hold the title of "Worst (Active) Band Ever". You know who got that title, right?

Nickleback

you mean nickelback?

The Gods created Seinfeld and Friends. IMO those were the best/funniest shows ever.

One of the most successful songwriting partnerships and groups in the history of the music business disbands after nearly a decade together

ummm, okay.

good riddance.

i will always remember those immortal words spoken to me by a guy i worked with at a grocery store.

"Creed rocks way too hard to be Christian"

so said a kid wearing a Pantera T-shirt.

That is exactly what I was thinking. I'm sure they aren't far behind. They'll either end up playing all Japan shows, or breaking up.

Yeah, the press release is hilarious.

During their 8 years and 3 albums together Creed achieved countless Rock & Roll milestones and sold over 30 million albums worldwide. With their unprecedented success at radio and their captivating live shows...

You'd think they were the Beatles.

I sure would like to hear some good reasons why there is so much hate towards Creed. And please try not to use un-intelligent arguments like: "they suck", "Stapp is an a$$", etc.

The band sold 30 MILLION on 3 albums, they must be a little better than ok. But, I'm probably wrong, because ATOT is the be all, end all of music truth.

I hated them b/c they were pretentious, derivative (re: What If) and overblown (re: With Arms Wide Open).

Also I hated that song Higher -- it had the most annoying little guitar bit ever, heh.

When the single first came out, I'd hear What If on the radio and alternately think it was Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots or Pearl Jam (depending on what part I was listening to).

Yes...the radio played the same five songs over and over ad nauseum. They all sounded the same, nonetheless.

Why I hate Creed:

Saw them twice in concert. The first time, in Madison, WI, this band that nobody had heard of, called 3 Doors Down opened for them. 3 Doors Down rocked the place, everyone was pumped for Creed. They were a dream opening act. Creed came out, and they were horrible. The had no stage presense, they had problems staying in tune, and they had tempo problems. The second time I saw them, they had improved their show, somewhat, but they had a lot more money (2 years later) and most of the improvements were technological and not performance. I alos had seen Dream Theater the night before, so I may have been spoiled by that show, and expected too much from a relatively young band.

As for their albums, they are fine. They don't change their sound much, so it sounds like 2-3 different songs, but I really don't mind listening to them once in a while.

I saw them in concert here in Houston about 3 years ago. Thought they were great.

Their first album was good. It showed some variety, refferences to Christianity without being preachy, and other such good stuff.

Their next two degenerated in to cliche Christian "rock": preachy songs, God as the answer to everything, softer and less "angry" music, lighter, almost saccharine moods to each song, and so on and so forth.

What pissed everyone off was the fact that the radio kept playing them. Over. And over. And again. Trying to get people to like them by repitition. All it did was annoy most anyone who was "on the fence" into disliking them, and drive the ones who didn't particularly care for their music into hating them.

Maybe Creed just hates Wisconsin. Who knows.

I can't believe I heard them comparing themselves to Led Zeppelin a while back.
It's not really necessary to give specific reasons for disliking bands, as musical taste is objective (duh). People buy William Hung records too, but it doesn't mean he's got talent. Same with Britney Spears. Record sales != talent. In general, marketing = record sales these days. Producers and executives decide who they want to be successful, and they make it so.
Hence 30 million albums sold for Creed.

What If was derivative because possibly they have influences (like almost any other band)? C'mon. The fact that it took pieces of several other bands is better than some bands that copy one other band.

With Arms Wide Open is overblown. If that's the case I've got a number of other songs you can throw in that class, including one from Green Day and Staind.

So, a good band is an "angry" band?
