I ventured off to Best Buy today and noticed a tall creepy guy just hanging out watching customers. I remember this man from 3 years ago after he approached me asking how I liked the Blue Ray movies, video games and so fourth. He began to ask me what I did for a living and since he started to creep me out asking questions about my personal life, I made something completely up. Then he told me he ran his own start up company and he asked me for my information. I gave him completely bogus information of course, and at that point, I figured him as just some harmless solicitor.

Fast forward 3 years later, I see him again hanging around the same section at Best Buy. I think he recognized me and didn't approach me - maybe he thought I was too old now. So he passed me up and went for a younger looking guy ( ), and tried to give the guy the same old rap he gave me 3 years ago. Once he noticed me looking at him, he quickly started walking towards the exit.

At this point I proceed to check out and started to remember scenes from Hannibal, Saw, and the Vanishing. So I ran to my car and quickly locked the doors and actually checked the back sit (just in case). I drove off into the night making sure I wasn't followed.

What would you do in this situation? Alert the store manager that there is a tall creepy man trying to pull in 18-21 year old's?

im pretty oblivious and prob wouldn't have noticed

Props for admitting it.

I'm the exact opposite - I wish I was a little more oblivious. I seriously am way to in-tune with basically everything and everyone, I notice a lot of things without even trying.

Why would you continue talking to someone if they creeped you out? Why would you even let it go long enough for for you to give fake info?

Me too. It's hard not to notice something completely unusual like this.

I don't know what is angle is or was, but for this to continue on for 3 years it must be something he is committed to.

Make me wonder if he drove in a van with tinted windows...

Any missing people in your area that fit the age, height, weight, skin color, etc over the past 3 years? Would you say you were about the same build type as the guy he approached?

Too bad you didn't watch to see where he went - what make/model/color/license plate of his car.

It'd be creepier if you saw the guy he approached was on the local news as a missing person...

it's a stupid sales tactic, I've had creeps try and find me at a gamestop, then follow you to panera and say something gay like "Dude, do I know you?" "Oh, so what do you do for al iving? Interesting making money?"

like door to door sales

If he does this regularly be sure the managers know about him. Our LP guys woulda kicked him out pretty quickly if he was harassing customers. We've had people come in to try to give out religious leaflets and we kick them out within a few minutes once we see them doing it.

Yes, but that could be just coincidence because of the demographics his organization is targeting. This is why I wanted to check with the store manager and see if they could review and save the security tapes.

I would sure hate to have that job. Now why couldn't they get some 20 year old blond with big boobs to do that? I would of likely gave out my social security number by the end of the day.

that's odd. same thing happened to me (1st part) ~8 years ago at B Buy. I was just out of college, killing some time checking out movies, and tallish dude starts asking me all these questions about movies games, what I do, work--said he had this new startup and wanted to know if I was interested in interviewing.

totally random. I just shrugged it off and left. He wasn't that old, maybe only 25, I was 22 at the time.

this was in Raleigh.

That's nothing. I had a guy walk up to me in the mall last weekend and ask me where I was from. I had just watched gangland and immedately though he was asking if I (a white 30 year old man wearing slacks and a work branded polo shirt) was in a gang.

So I give him the "Who the fuck are you and why do you want to talk to me" look and it doesn't even phase him. He continues on about where he is from and how he likes it here (I live in a large college town). Then he asks me what I use "on my face". I tell him soap (which causes my wife to bust up laughing) and he tries to sell me some beaded lotion that will fix all my skin problems.

WTF?? I told him no thanks I was a man. That of course offended him and he kept following me as I walked off saying "Sir, come back here I'm not done with you". I can't imagine he would get any sales in my area unless frat boys and farmers really care about their beauty....
