Creepy eavesdropping neighbor?

I have a problem with eavesdropping nieghbour. My condo has thin walls and some of the things that I have had heard coming through the walls suggest that my neighbours are eavesdropping on me. I remember I had recently gotten a job offer and was told what the salary would be and repeated the details back to the person in HR. Only to hear someone one from the other unit get up from a corner of the shared wall and say "oh he got a job that pays (stated amount) " they also like to make comments about how I always watch tv or I always talk on the phones with my friends or I am always sleeping. Moving is not a solution right now and I already hung blankets on the shared wall and play the radio to get some priacy. But it seems like this neighbour and her guests have nothing better to do to get in my business and make comments about my life or what they perceive to be my life. Because trust me I am not that talented where I can watch tv, talk to my friends on the phone and sleep all the time. Anyone have any suggestions on how to handle this where I can preserve some shred of privacy with persistance eavesdroppers and I suspect that some stalking may be involved.

2x2 spacer studs 1 inch away from existing wall, vapor barrier (don't forget acoustic sealant!), 2x6 studs sandwitching vapor barrier on 2x2 studs, then R30 batts of fiberglass insulation or see if you can find some that says sound proof. The empty space between the original wall and the new wall is important.

That should do it.

Hopefully the owners of the building don't mind loosing a couple square feet of space when they try to sell it in the future.

I did not say who is right or wrong. The company that constructed the building without proper sound insulation between units is clearly the wrong party. However, nothing can be done about that unless the unit owner wishes to remove the walls to install insulation (or install the idea from above for the sound barrier). If someone does not wish for the neighbors to hear then it is important to make less noise. This can be done by turning down the television and radio while talking softer into the phone.

I am pretty sure the neighbors do not enjoy having the sound of the OP's phone conversations drift into their apartment. It ruins their own privacy also.

Sometimes it is good to think beyond oneself.

In fact, see if they might be criminals. Make up some kind of long complex story that basically ends up having a huge sum of cash brought to your house, then you leaving then coming back to pick it up, or something along those lines. Hide and see if they try to break in, capture it all on tape, leave 20 bucks on the table and make sure the camera catches them stealing it.

That would be pure ownage.

Not sure how you came to that conclusion, if anything it sounds like the nosy neighbors get some kind of thrill listening to our young grasshopper.

The OP either needs to say something to the neighbors to their face or say something thru the wall about how he knows that they are listening to him to embarrass them into stopping their behavior.

From living with noisy neighbors that I would rather not continually be reminded of their presence just 10-20 feet away from me. Because I live quietly, my neighbors do not realize how easily sound travels through the walls.

This may be the reason the OP's neighbors make comments on his discussions. The OP's neighbors know that if they can hear his phone conversations, then he can hear his neighbors comments about his phone conversations. Their comments are a passive aggressive method (as previously mentioned) of informing the OP that his noise is bothering them and they would appreciate it if he would live quieter.

I don't really agree with your assessment of the situation though. They're talking about how much he sleeps, what the fuck kind of creepy shit is that to talk about when they have to know he can hear them?

OP, just have fun with it (embarrass the shit out of them), tell them you don't like it, or buy some acoustic foam or something.
