That's a decent deal, but I think for $65, the T-mobile deal with 6gb of data and unlimited music/video that covers most things is better. That also depends if you're in an area with good service for T-mobile though.

One negative for this plan is you can't sign up for their tethering plan with the unlimited data plan. I was about to switch to this until I read the fine print about it.

Well, if you have an unlocked phone that has native tethering, it will work. I have a T-Mobile Note 4 on Cricket & tethering works natively. Not legally, though, but it works.

My unlocked (never locked) Nexus 6's tethering is disabled, unless I enable via root.

That is what I meant. Yes, root is most likely needed to enable it. My Note 4 is rooted.You are correct.
I have heard unlocked iPhones work natively on cricket.
