I just called my office and then called my phone from my office. So far, so good.

My service never went down, I even got the apology text message sat night.

so, what do you think is fair compensation for the ~2-5 hour service downtime that you experienced?

20 cents? 40 cents? Probably less, right?

When I was on Cricket the last two years, my monthly bill was $35. I'm not going to bother with the math, but pro-rating a credit for 2-5 hours of service in a one month period seems....irrational.

I depend on my cellphone to get job assignments. No service, no income. I'm really pissed at the way Cricket handled this-not even a notice on their website. I spent about an hour Friday night doing my feeble amateur efforts to find out what was wrong with my phone only to find out from this thread that the problem was at Cricket's end.

I've been on Cricket for about 18 months and was very happy with the service until now. The fact that the outage happened I can live with, but the way they handled it was inexcusable.

Oh I can totally understand that, and of course I get that a lot of people depend on their service for the same reasons you do.

I do think it's fair to compensate for whatever time/service was lost. I guess my initial post was directed at what I perceived (based on the Twitter and Cricket/Reddit forum posts), to be demands for a large/full credit for the month. ...I guess this is just what one comes to expect from people these days.

Cricket is pretty legendary for terrible customer service. I figured I'd deal with it needbe if that time ever came because they were the best deal at the time. I didn't have any issues with them and only switched to Project Fi 3 months ago for the discount on the Nexus 5x and a less $10/month bill ($26 and $25 each of last two bills for me, now. I'm a super low data user)

To my surprise Cricket is offering at least $5 credit per line if you ask nicely. Worked for me, took about 15 minutes including 12 minutes of waiting.

Protips:
1) Login to http://www.cricketwireless.com click Support click Contact Us then Chat on the right during normal business hours. They close at 7:00 PM Eastern.
2) Have your name, Cricket wireless phone # and PIN readily available. Mention the recent network downtime, yadda yadda yadda and you heard they're offering $5 compensation (some were reporting getting $10) or whatever.

You may have to wait 10-20 minutes for a chat support agent.
