Here's a thought...make your own waffles?
Even better, go to the Original Pancake House and get their Waffles with bits of bacon in them. Sure I could make them at home, but unlike everyone else on ATOT who's a world class chef. I cannot make waffles as good as they do there.
QFT!
BTW-I didn't realize they recently opened one in Vista, CA. I know where I'm going for breakfast with my wife and kid this weekend!
Leggo my Eggo or I will cut you.
The issue wasn't the cost, it was the shelf life. Shelters/food donation places (churches, county run stuff, etc) would give us a lot of canned and frozen goods - including eggos in huge bags, like 10+ waffles in each bag.
Edit:
Also, there were other weird things I ended up eating. Another good example is raw frozen pie crusts that I would thaw out and crisp in the toaster oven. Cheaper than bread? No. Available? Yes.
I see flashbacks of Katrina, except replace plasma TV's with boxes of Eggos.
can't we just buy a competitors product
is there a store brand? who else makes them?

not really waffle related, but there is a deli in Carlsbad right off palomar airport road called Tip Top Meats. They serve this breakfast that is 3 eggs, hashbrowns, two pieces of toast, and then an all you can eat selection of bacon, ham, brats, link sausage, and polish sausage. Yup.. all you can eat meat (but nothing else). It's decent food... and oh yea, it's 6.95.
we are coming out with a private label waffles now to fill the void that eggo has left.
another manufactur is Vans Waffles but now they are facing shortages becuase they can not keep up with the new demand from the eggo void.
I've been there. Not for breakfast though.
It amazes me that so many people are too fucking lazy to cook for themselves so they buy all this pre-processed frozen shit.
