Hey all, after asking this forum a million questoins, I have come down to my almost finalized computer list. I just need you guys to critique it.

First of all, this is quite a hefty price. So, anything that I can do to get this down a little bit a few hundred dollars without significant performance loss are great. Please suggest if you can do so.

Second of all, I didn't know if I selected the best parts for its price, so you guys are going to help me with that too.

http://secure.newegg.com/app/WishR.asp?ID=1071472

Is for the parts that I ordered form newegg.

I also ordered a case window for my coolermaster case, Klipsch Promedia Ultra 5.1 speakers, and an ATI Radeon X800 Pro.

The total price comes to... $2016.33

I would like to get this down to at least $1900 if possible.

Please help, critique, etc. THanks!

Why do you have OCZ Performance ram with a Via K8T800? The K8T800 series lacks working PCI/etc. locks, so you can't overclock very well - if at all - with it. May as well buy Crucial or Corsair value ram rather then any performance-oriented ram.

For the price of the heat sink you have listed in that list - you could (I think) get one with much better performance. If you read about in the cases and cooling section, you'll see a lot of people who say good things about ThermalRight's XP-90 or XP-120 (Not to be confused with the company ThermalTake).

I'm personally using the XP-120 - and although it's big enough(Though not heavy at all) to not fit in all motherboards - the smaller XP-90 is often a great buy if the former is too much of a goliath.

Not trying to persuade you to buy from one company over the other - but the XP-120 is around the same price and people swear by its performance over any other. I was a bit skeptical of all the raving until I got mine and saw how much it cooled things. It also uses a 120 mm fan (Panaflo works great) - not noisy at all, at least - the case fans in my case outnoise the huge fan on the heat sink. If you do decide to go with any specific fan and heatsink - make *sure* that it will fit your motherboard - Thermalright's web page has a section that lets you check if their products are compatible with your motherboard. Don't forget the thermal paste as well...

Not true. THe Asus a8v is a great board and DOES have a pci/agp lock if you get Rev. 2.0, which is what most reatailers are selling. I got mine from Zipzoomfly for ~130. I ahve the aforementioned XP-90 on it, and it works great

I would also get one of the new winchesters and overclock - i'm a nOOb at oc'ing and got my 3200+ to 2519 easily, and if I play with it a bit more i can probably get a few more mhz out of it.

Schnook: Via has a working AGP/PCI lock?

Holy schnikies. By "working", do you mean WORKING, or do you mean "has been included in a list of features but never truly implemented"? (Sorry...skeptical based on past VIA AGP/PCI "locks")
