I really haven't played much in the past 10 years. I've only touched the golf course maybe.. two times in the past 8-9 years. Last I've swung the club was a year ago. The local driving range here occasionally records everyone's swings and emails it to you.
The swing you see is after about 2 visits to the range just getting my timing and impact back. The iron I hit, I think, was a 6 iron.. it's either a 6, 7 or 8; I forgot which. I think 6.
I am actually aiming towards the middle of the range (I'm at the farrr right side of the range). Tt looks like i'm "pushing" it left due to camera angle. However, from my perspective, it was actually going straight with a draw. The mats, and my feet are alligned to the middle of the range.

Overall, I think my swing is meh-ok. I feel like I can get more power and consistency as I used to (former singles player, now probably crappy double-bogey player lol). I think I'm overexerting, allowing my right arm to take over, and not winding up far back enough (not as flexible as I used to be though).

My irons are oldschool original copper Ping-Eye's with square grooves. They are almost 20 years old. I had them fitted to my stance/height about 12 years ago (fitting is ohhh sooo important).

Man, I've been soooo out of the loop. I need a new driver, new woods and a loft/lob wedge. Anyone know of any good ones for the money? TIA!

Posture looks decent. I would try to get a little more hip turn which will help get the club closer to parallel at the top of your swing and would also help generate more power. The trajectory looks a bit low for a 6 iron, but it's hard to tell from the video and also depends on the kind of shot you're trying to hit.

TGW.com is a good place to get discount stuff, though their selection isn't always the greatest. I had a cleveland launcher driver from a couple years back that is amazing. Also have a cleveland sand and lob wedge which are fantastic. You can't go wrong with Taylor made driver/woods. Titleist, cleveland, and nike make great wedges.

Maybe find a golf shop that has a good selection of clubs and has a pro that gives lessons.

Pay for an hour to have him evaluate your swing and see what type of clubs he recommends for you. (actually pro shop not associated with golf course probably has one of those indoor hitting cages and salesman can probably recommend some clubs for you to hit in that cage).

You can obviously buy the clubs he recommends and feel good to you after testing them online or used if they can't offer you a good price.

If you tend to buy a lot of stuff online, I'd keep an eye on Rock Bottom Golf - I've bought a few things from them before and the prices are phenomenal, even if you're not getting the latest gear.

do you always golf straight legged?

spread your stance a bit more, bend and the knees a bit more and lean your back forward more. otherwise not to bad.

I'll 2nd Rock Bottom, I bought a Adams BTY 4 wood for $40, great club.

I'd also check out Ebay, there are plenty of legit sellers and you can easily get slightly used equipment for cheap.

Do you play golf?

His legs are not straight. Looks like just the right amount of bend at the knees to me. One of the most common mistakes I see beginners making is bending too much, so they're almost squatting.

Only thing I see is maybe a little too much slouch in the back. Of course, I'm no expert.

You'd be much better off getting a real pro to look at your swing rather than a bunch of us dorks on ATOT.

That said, you're not getting much hip turn on your backswing.

Yeah, but our advice is free.

You get what you pay for.

Compared to Charles Barkley, your swing looks phenomenal.

I agree with checking out ebay. I got a nice set of used Titleist 962 irons a few years ago for pretty cheap. Nice clubs, thought people say they're for beginners. I guess I'm a beginner still. *sigh*

No, it's not.

Fundamentally that swing is very solid. Your balance and rhythm seem to be right on and there are no real fatal flaws in there. You make a positive move through the ball with a good release. If I had any suggestions I'd like to see a little more shoulder turn. That will probably come with more practice, but focus on getting your left shoulder under your chin so that your back is completely to the target at the top of your backswing. That will increase your arc so that you can generate a little more power without any extra effort and it would also get your club more down the target line so it's not laid off at the top. But don't go crazy thinking you need to make changes. That swing is a lot better than 95% of what I see on a day-to-day basis.

As for clubs, if you're serious about getting back in the game, get fit. All clubs are pretty much the same, there's no inherent advantage to choosing one brand over another as technology is pretty stagnant right now. You need to find the right loft, lie, length, weight and flex to fit your swing and that's not something we can help you with. You need to hit balls with a trained fitter who can address your specific needs.
