I have not. Elaborate!

At stock speeds the E6300 should be a little faster than the X2 4600+ in Photoshop. If you OC, the E6300 will murder the X2 4600.

Now that C2D is out, you shouldn't even really be considering AMD X2. I'd recommend an E6400.. The E6300 is a little cheaper though.

Edit: Oh, and I would go with the Cooler Master Cavalier 3 case over the Soprano. The soprano is plastic, the Cavalier is all aluminum, and the door is MUCH better than the Soprano. I would however recommend replacing the air duct on the side of the case with an 80mm fan, easy to do simply with a screwdriver.

The Cavalier is not all AL, the chassis is steel and there is large amount of plastic in the front bezel.

The AMD processor i want is dual core though. Is that intel that much better? And should I go with intel, which mobo do you recommend for it ?

Yup, both dual core, and yes, it's much better. Are you planning on OC'ing?

i must say, conroe will "murder" most the x2's if properly overclocked. i hate to say that, for i have been a true amd fan my whole life. hopefully amd will put me out of my misery before christmas when i upgrade, and they will be the top dog again.

THere are no plans to OC. It is a work computer and I just want it to be kick ass out of the box. I will be doing 3D work rather than playing games.

Then I would definitely get an E6300 or E6400, and this board...

As an AMD fanboy for the last decade or so, I give you the same advice that a handful of others have already taken the liberty to do:

get the conroe.

My personal experiences with the x2 have been nothing but a massive headache. The numbers for the Conroe also stomp the hell outta the x2 on the benchmarks.

AMD was king for the last half decade, but with the Conroe, Intel has regained it's crown.
