It went 260 fsb 3.38 but was gettin up around 50 deg...remember still stock cooling.
Anyone ever seen like a wall of fans in a case?

Once you drop that stock HSF you should easily be able to hit 3.4

Even if you have to bump up to 1.625. Possibly 3.5 on 1.65

Although 1.65 is starting to get rather high for a northwood as well.

Yeah, the Alpha 8942 will really cool things down... be sure and get a fast enough fan too. I run a Delta 80cfm fan but I am hardcore, lol.

Actually the 8942 was insufficient on my 2.4c@3.5ghz with only 1.58v on an abit IC7....problem is that the mounts were for only am 80mm fan...To really start cooling these things at high levels you need decent case cooling and 92+mm fans pushing about 40-50cfm...Deltas are ridiculous...I got a swiftech MXC400 and used a panaflo 92mm fan (quiter then my 80mm and pushed more air...)

I see you list prime95, but unless you are running 2 instances of it, or another cpu intensive app such as prime95 in conjuction to the 1 instance of prime95 you are not seeing the highest load temp.....

Up to 1.65v is fine for the northwoods but make sure cooling is sufficient....Abits undervolt...MIne would be set to 1.625v and it would be actual of 1.58v....so beware of that....

I actually think temps (50c) if legit are not baxd and you have some room to push further....

Stability with an HT cpu without running multiple apps to stress HT is a waste. You may not be as stable as you think...

I noticed that when set @ 1.6, it shows as 1.58...
As far as the case, Im getting the Antec lanboy.
I would like to see 275 fsb out of this set-up. Should be achievable.

2.6c has a 13x....no multiplier adjustment....13x275 = 3.575ghz and they dont even make 2.6cs anymore and I cant quite say I ever saw one really get thast high period...

1) alpha will not cut it at that speed...

2) case cooling is going to have to rock....

3) Abit boards get iffy at that high of fsb with memory divider...

I think it is doubtful...

Hardly scared you little biatch....I was Intel for mnay years until recent and know quite a bit about ocing the northwoods...i would from my experience be surprised if an Alpha can cut it, without using a hairdryer fan like the Delta

While you are at it...get me screen shots of 2 instances of prime after say 12 hours of prime with a monitoring program app in the background....

BTW, Delta 80mm fans are nothing like the old Delta 60mm screamers. The fan noise from mine is very tolerable.

It's really sweet to have your cpu run cooler than body temp even under load.

My80mm fan for my TT venus 12 can go up to 5500rpm and after 4000rpm it is getting annoying and 5500 is really annoying...For my chip even at 5500 the idle temps only move like 1-2c and the load temps stay down 4c, but I couldn't imagine anyone thinking it was acceptable...I knew someone who had a delta fan and it was pretty close to this fan at 5500rpm...

Well depends heavily on few other components

Got the Alpha installed and my load temps are still nearing 50....drops off like crazy though upon unload. Idle temps are a good 33. Might try to remove the fan shroud from the Alhpa. Maybe turn the fan to blow directly upon the sink.
Really want to avoid w/c.

actually the best way is to put the fan blowing on the heatsink, not sucking...

and yeah don't judge by people's profiles... duvie was hardcore intel for a LONG time before he switched over... as were a lot of people on this forum (including me)

Go Alpha Go!!

Maybe an 80->92mm adapter might help here... one of these on an Alpha may act like a plenum and increase flow, not to mention the higher flow of the bigger fan.

The chip needs more juice... another .025v minimum, perhaps more if it's failing Prime that quickly.
