Hey guys, was just wondering if you could critique my planned build. Hoping to keep cost down to a minimum, but prices aren't worth comparing since I'm in New Zealand.
Anyway here goes:

CPU: Core 2 Duo E6300 (NZ$340)
RAM: Corsair VS 2GB DDR2 667 kit (NZ$366)
HD: 2x80GB Seagate Barracuda, 7200rpm 8mb cache (Don't need big hard drives thanks ) (NZ$170)
Mobo: Gigabyte GA 965P S3 (NZ$254)
VGA: Asus 7900GS (I could save NZ$100 ~ US$50 if I went 7600GT) (NZ$420 or $320)
PSU: Enermax Liberty 400W (Is this overkill? could I get away with a cheaper one?) (NZ$145)

Total = NZ$1695 w/7900GS

I plan to do a little o/c, maybe up to 333mhz FSB 1:1 if I can get away with it without buying a new heatsink, otherwise I'm happy with stock at the moment (big step above an XP1800+ I'm sure w/256mb ram!). If I do o/c, it will be temporary for games only - after I finish playing a game, I would go back and undo the o/c (I guess I'd be doing software o/cs then).

Mostly for general family stuff, only games I've got are SIMS2 (works on my laptop fine with the X600 @ max settings), AOE3 and C&C Yuri's revenge.
Apart from AOE3 nothing too graphic intensive there, but I get the 7900GS it would come with Ghost Recon which might be a bonus to play my first FPS or whatever type game (forgive my ignorance please ) I am a busy uni student so games aren't that high on the priority list. I know I've just talked myself out of the 7900GS but it would be nice to have a new game, and have some pretty eye candy for AOE3. Current screen is a CRT 17", Dad doesn't like going over 1024x768, but eventually will go to a 19" WXGA 1440x900 LCD (maybe xmas, who knows?!).

Unlikely to do video editing (no digital video camera in our house), no encoding or anything like that either, but definately want the Intel Core 2 Duo.

So thanks a lot in advance,

Marmian

DVD writer will probably be some BenQ or something - as long as it reads and writes it will be fine. Any particular suggestions? I am being cheap here
I thought 400W would be fine, but I could get a Enermax noisetaker 485W for ~NZ$120.
Definately no SLI and the rig has got to last ~5 years like my last one

Cheers
