The 2015 Crossfit open started today and IMO it deserves its own thread. Who else in here is participating? Lets see some scores!

15.1

9 Min AMRAP
15T2B (or KTE scaled)
10DL (115# or #85 (Scaled))
5 Snatches (115 or #85 Scaled))

Sho'Nuff's Score - First time - 127 reps; second time 150 reps (Scaled everything)

15.1a

- 1RM Clean and Jerk (6 min time limit)

Sho'Nuff's recorded 1RM - first time 185#; second time 190#

Update 1 - 15.2 has been announced!

OHS/Pullup Ladder:

From 0:00-3:00
(RX) rounds
start with 2 rounds of:
10 overhead squats (95lb.)
10 chest-to-bar pull-ups

SCALED
start with 2 rounds of:
6 OHS (65lb)
6 chin over bar pullups

After each round (of two sets), increase reps by 2 for each exercise - continue in this manner until athlete fails to complete both rounds in 3 minutes.

I did the scaled workout because my pullups suck (for now) - did 32 reps - failed on the second round of pull ups - not bad considering I could do 1 pull up 5 months ago.

Update 2 - 15.3 has been announced!

RX: 14 MIN AMRAP - 7 muscle ups, 50 wall balls, 100 DU;
SCALED : 50 wall balls, 200 single unders (D: i.e., vomit inducing)

I did the scaled workout last Friday and got 548 reps. Wanted to do it again this Sunday but I was so sore from the open WOD and heavy deadlifts that I could barely walk. Oh well, good benchmark for next year.

Update 3: 5.4 has been announced

15.4 (RX)
8 min AMRAP
3 HSPU’s
3 cleans (185/125#)
6 HSPU’s
3 cleans
9 HSPU’s
3 cleans
12 HSPU’s
6 cleans
15 HSPU’s
6 cleans
18 HSPU’s
6 cleans
21 HSPU’s
9 cleans
Etc., adding 3 reps to the handstand push-up each round, and 3 reps to the clean every 3 rounds.

Scaled version
8 min AMRAP
10 push presses (95/65#)
10 cleans (115/75#)

Sho'Nuff's score - 1st attempt 72 reps; second attempt 81 reps (scaled)

Update 4 - 15.5 has been announced

27-21-15-9 reps for time of:
Row (calories)
Thrusters
M 95 lb. F 65 lb.
Scaled - Mens 65lbs

I'm not registered this year, traveling too much for work the next couple of weeks. That said, we ran heats 4:30-8PM today and it was great seeing so many people, veteran and noob alike, giving 15.1 a shot.

Nice work you two. Going to do it again or just let your first attempt be it?

I'm going to do the workout again on Sunday. I don't think I will do better on 15.1, but I think I can log a better score for 15.1(a). I did not plan well for it and left weight on the floor because I ran out of time.

I think that if nothing else, people get to game plan better for 15.1 and they'll have a realistic starting weight for 15.1a...too many people started out light and wasted time and energy, making too many lifts and scrambling to add weight at the last second.

Fun to watch though.

Good job!

I didn't redo the wod as I haven't registered and my box isn't open on Sunday which is the only time I would have had to retry it. I possibly could have gotten more reps in 15.1 if I had broken up the t2b from the first round instead of trying to go as long as possible in order to save my grip. I would have also alternated my grip for deadlift for the same reason. My biggest bottleneck was the snatch. I was dropping the bar on each rep. As for the cnj I don't think I could have gotten much more than what I did as I was pretty tired and I was only 10# off of my 1RM for each of the individual movements.

15.1: 102 reps RX
15.1a: 195#

I should have dropped down and started doing singles in the toes to bar but was stupid and kept hanging on which killed my grip.

195# was good but I could have done more except there was no weight around me to put on the bar; I was in a heat with a bunch of women who used up all the 10's.

I wasn't available for the make-up time.

Yeah to me the whole workout was basically the T2B (or in my case, K2E). My forearms were smoked both times I did the work out. The best strategy seemed to be to break them up from the beginning to try and save grip strength. Even the best athlete in my gym only chained the first round. After that they would do a quick set of 5, hope off. Shake hands, and hop back on for another quick set of five. At the end, 1 rep and hop off seemed to be the norm

The deadlifts did not seem to be much of a factor for me or anyone else I watched.

I saw all sorts of of strategies for the snatch. Some people chained them, some dropped the bar each time, etc. It did not seem like either strategy meaningfully affected time. At least not for the "average" athelete. The monsters who have a 1RM snatch of 225+ lbs obviously benefited from chaining the reps.

I could have possibly chained them together at 95# but those get very difficult for me very quickly after 95#. My 1RM is only 135#.

did it twice. Thursday night of the announcement, 152 + 200. Did it Sunday morning, 154, 205. I think I shoulda stopped or paced around 150 and then go for a higher CJ. 230 is my best, fresh CJ.

Bump - 15.2 has been announced. Its going to suck for me as it combines two of my biggest weaknesses (OHS and Pullups).

15.2:

I scaled: start at 6 each instead of 10, OHS-65# instead of 95#, chin over the bar pullups instead of chest to bar pullups

I finished the round of 12 (6-8-10-12) so I stopped at the 12th minute.

Nice job Blackdog! 144 is great (IMO)

I did not fair nearly as well. I did the scale workout and got 32 reps. Failed on second round of pullups. No surprise. Seeing as though I could only do 1 pullup 5 months ago, I am happy. Good benchmark for next year.

Oops. I didn't realize that you count the reps that you complete in whichever round you don't finish. So, I could have tried to bang out a few more OHS and pullups in the 3 minutes of the round of 14. Oh well.

Did you use a band for the pullups? In our box they let people use them during the scaled version since they weren't registered anyway.

15.2 (sorta)

I used the scaling i did last year (75lbs OHS instead of 95; all else rx'd). i don't think the games site provided scaling numbers last year so i just chose 75lbs.

Last year didn't quite get to the 6:00-9:00 round (round of 14 reps); fell short by 6 reps on previous round.

This year got to the round of 9:00-12:00 and got 16 OHS + 16 c2b pullups.

probably could have gone 95lbs on the OHS but wanted to see how i compared to last year and trying to avoid injury for a mud run at the end of the month.

I did not use a band for the pullups. I did them until I failed (which is when I stopped counting official reps) and then I did jumping pullups (basically negatives) until I could not complete a round.

I managed to complete the first round (2x6 pullups, 2x6 OHS) plus the first 8 OHS of the second round - so 32 total reps - before I had to start doing jumping pullups.

I am registered so I wanted the score to count.

Thanks. I'm pretty good with the body weight exercises, especially pullups/chest to bar/etc, so this was a better one for me. Anything that is a heavy lift, or puts strain on my right shoulder like a clean or press, will drop me down though.
