crossover frequency with Vista x64 and X-FI?

I cant seem to find where i can set this damn frequency.

i've got an x-fi xtremegamer hooked up via analog plugs to an onkyo 5.1 system. all speakers show up and work properly in the speaker selection screen...but i cant seem to find where to set the damn crossover frequency.

anyone got any ideas? cause i'm all out.

Are you having problems with the performance of the speakers? The sound card should be handling this pretty well on its own and have no need to offer an option to adjust it.

i cant get sound out of the subwoofer during normal playback or gaming... so i want to up the crossover frequency.

It may be an issue with the connection or is it actually configured for 5.1. Have you been able to test the sub independantly to ensure its fuctoning properly? Hope you can find the problem and get it worked out.

yes, i have tested the sub indepenantly. it is configured correctly in both connection to the amp/tuner, as well as connection to the PC. it works when i play back my ipod through the amp/tuner. it does not work when i play audio through WMP, or games on my PC.

that's pretty much all the configuration i have. i've seen screenshots on creatives site of VASTLY more configuration options..as in i can do specific things in game mode like "enable bass redirection". but i cant figure out where the fuck i'm supposed to be able to configure that kind of stuff.

that's the second dumbest idea i've ever seen.




anyways, videogames101 suggested a course that worked for me.

Download the creative console launcher, and click speakers, click bass settings, enable redirection, then set the frequency there.

Keep in mind that even if you do find the Bass Redirection settings, if you're using Dolby Digital Live or DTS Interactive, they won't work. I know this doesn't apply as you're using analog, but it pisses me off to no end.

Bass redirection is a feature that mimics analog crossover while DDL is for the digital playback that's why it does not work I guess.
It is interesting question though - how to tweak DDL algorithm so that you can set the cut off frequency for LFE...
