i just ordered cthd dvd and my favorite chinese movie of all time... chinese ghost story.
both came out to be about $52.00 including shipping.

Those of you who are placing orders,

I really hope you understand what region coding is. Most DVD players do not allow other regions' (or parts of the world) DVDs to be played on US standalone DVD players. In the US we are Region 1. HK is apparently region 3, and i'm sure some other asian nations are as well. Anyhow, unless you have a regionless DVD player (Region 0) or a hacked DVD-ROM you won't even be able to watch these movies. Good luck

Crouching Tiger has been out for a while in Hong Kong already so I would not be surprised if they actually have legit vcd/dvd copies of it. I have a vcd copy of it and it is legit. (Both mandarin/cantonese language) the quality would probably be HOT on DVD, so up to your budget!

divinemartyr, the older apex dvd player had a hack menu where you could disable macrovision protection and region country code; this is why they easily sell for $200 even though the newer models can be had for half of that! Also, there are programs floating around to disable country code on certain dvd-roms. Just FYI...

vcd = not so good quality, dvd = good quality?

what? not just that. they are simply different technology. vcd = video cd, and they are in the normal cd format, which means it can store a total of 650mb data max. you can play a vcd using any cdrom, but you can only view dvd using dvdrom.

the price seems very good for me, though i am wondering. the movie by andy lau and the one by eddison chan, i thought those movies were out in around christmas, and maybe they are still being shown, why would the vcd and dvd be out so soon. this would totally defect the cinema market. again, i am just wondering. i am not in hk, and i just read all the news on newspaper. i know one way of making pirated cd is some people actually duplicate the whole movie using the tapes they show people in the theater, so the video quality is just as good.

again, just my 2 cents. i am not implying they are pirated, since i am not in hk and no way i can prove anything
