Like many international films, the movie isn't nicely packaged and the ending leaves room for imagination/debate. It's something I find refreshing.

For some reason I was more tense during the fighting scenes than usual. The only reason I could come up with is because it's two women fighting. This is not meant to be a sexist remark. I just think that I was holding my breath because I didn't want to see them get hurt. Traditionally I've been led to believe that men could be hit, stabbed, and sho--and still keep going. Seeing two women fight so intensely is new to me. I don't think I'm making myself clear...

This is morel like a test-pilot movie that will introduce more and more Azn films to the US market (the US market needs more and more NEw ideas)

Not only will there be more Azn films, but more international films in spanish, french, etc...

Good movie...Zhang Ziyi is a hottie...

Yes, Zhang Zi Yi (Jen) is a serious hottie! She's also the only lead that actually speaks Mandarin properly.

Chow Yun Fat's accent made his speech almost untelligible... Michelle Yeoh was pretty good.

The movie was awesome.. Easily the best film of the year, and if it would have been made in English (not dubbed over) it would be in the top 5 of all time.. IMHO

ieww, i can't beleive someone would want a dub. Are people that lazy or have such poor reading skills that subtitles actually take too much time to read Once you get used to it, simple glances work well enough.

I don't know, but as a chinese, seeing a badly syched dub just rubs me wrong. It obviously doesn't match and pops you out of the movie. You might as well superimpose pink bowties on the actors, its just absurd.

Why in the world would you want to listen to voices that don't look like they are coming out of their mouths.
Anways It was a great film and I should get this on DVD.

He's the one that told her about the story of some guys redemption by throwing himself off a mountain or something.. have faith= survive or something.. i'm fuzzy on this.

The story is that if you jump off the mountain, make a wish and land alive the wish will come true. Then the Mongolian guy tells the story of the boy whose parents were sick, so he jumped off the mountain and his parents got better but the boy was never seen again. My friend thinks that was the Mongolian guy.

ohh... so that he actually believes in that story. i thought he just said that to get brownie points with the chick. would also kind of make sense if he was also the mongolian guy but I don't think they implied that.

I think DUBBING would be horrible. I saw "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" 3 times already and I couldn't get enough of it. And in all of them, I didn't even notice the subtitle. That movie is just great (and I came into the movie expecting it to fail too because I've read so many good reviews on that I came into the movie trying to find fault in it. BUT no luck there.).

The reason I say DUBBING would be terrible because emotion convey in the actors and actresses dialogs and speeches. If it is dubbed you will take alot away this movie. Plus, I just rented and saw the dubbed version of "Once Upon in China" the other day and I hated it. The dubbing makes that movie (which is a terrific Jet Li kung fu movie) look bad.

saw it yesterday...nice movie. but you gotta be on acid to think it would be better dubbed. Godzilla mean anything to you? my friend rented "once upon a time in china"(there's a coincidence for ya) and it had an english dub on teh dvd, and he said that it sucked. kung fu movies are meant to be watched in the orignal language

Once Upon a Time in China. Is that the one where Jet Li has that half shaved pony tail like Chow Yun Fat had? Where he's entering that contest to win a wife? Because if that's it, they showed it on tv as part of the "Jet Li Collection" of dubbed movies.

Great movie. Seen it three times. Loved it more each time. Can't wait for it to come out on DVD.

Cdan, the one you were referring to is Fong Sai Yuk II. That one is good. I hate dubbed though, g@y @ss mofo. Damn man, sometime I feel wierd going into chinese movie store to rent all the Kung Fu movies cuzz I am not even chinese. Oh well, it pays off after watching the movies. Well, back to the main topic, Crouching Tiger Hidden dragon is really good IMHO. Not only the movie has good Kungfu, it also has good romantic love story, not to mention a hottie as a lead character(i think, the story seems to surround her). Zhang Ziyi forever!!! Damn, ain't she hot in that dress and her hair down when she with Dark Cloud? Damn hot.
