i saw it and i feel like a better person now that i did... its awesome! and please, no comparisons to the matrix. asian films have been doing this kind of stuff for years now.

I saw it, and I enjoyed it.

The ONLY comparison between The Matrix and Crouching Tiger is that Woo-Ping was the fight choreographer for both.

I hope the DVD has a dubbed version, reading the subtitles gets annoying.

i truly believe that hearing the actual voice is better than seeing chow yun fat talk like mel gibson. once you get into the movie the reading is second nature.

as far as fighting scenes go,... i still think hollywood has a long long way to go before they can even compare themselves to asian films,... likewise asian films need a lot more of hollywood touches as well, but when it's pure fight scenes... nobody does it like the asian greats... chow yun fat isn't even a well known "kung-fu" star,... he's been known for years as an invincible gun shooter which they killed in the corruptor... want kung-fu fighting at it's coolest and best, go rent some Jet-Li movies!!!

Chow Yun Fat is cantonese... and in cantonese, it's pronounced with a "t" "d" sounds at the end of it... hence the spelling...

I have the Chinese DVD, and it has English subs, and I"m wondering what kind of subtitles were on the theatres? was it a thing italicized white text?

i don't remember exactly although i saw it twice... pretty standard english subs, like any other asian movie... i don't think theywere italics though, just plain "arial/courier" type script in white

the flying looked a little bit silly. they needed more "flapping robes" sounds when they were flying...those who watch old asian movies know what i mean...

makes it a teensy bit more believable...

Great movie...I just wonder why Sony is releasing it to so less theatres...it certainly has hit written all over it and I'm sure most people won't mind the subtitles.

Yuck, I hate when people mess with the movie. Subtitle it. To me it's the same as Pan-N-Scan...it just rips apart the movie.

Actually, the &quot;flying scenes&quot; are the most well-done in any kung fu movie I've ever seen. It's more leaping than flying in most cases. Also, there is some wire-work DURING the actual fight scenes themselves, but most people won't notice it.

The weapons combat is some of the best I've seen -- it's a great vehicle to introduce the various Chinese weapons, some which non-martial arts people will have never seen before (e.g., the tiger swords, crescent moon daggers, chinese saber/sword/spear form, etc.).

The action is overall much better than The Matrix.
