Hello Guys,

I have a small doubt, I was wondering if the TFT display is as good or better then CRT when it comes to hard core graphics applications like CAD, Photosop and gaming. I havent noticed any difference when it comes to normal usage....

if space and energy consumption is not an issue, would one still recommend TFT monitors?.. thanks..

Normally if you after the best colour reproduction for graphics work, stick with a CRT-based monitor. At least that is the gist of it from what I have read.

Yes, for normal business apps, the LCD is OK but for the intensive graphics and gaming, the CRT wins out.
. Not to mention that you should be able to expect 5 to 10 years from a CRT while LCDs will start to fade after two to three yrs.

work we have 22" trinitron CRTS, they are delicous, im posting on one now .

i actually like LCDs/TFTs, they seem to be easier on the eyes, but i don't think they'd be great for gaming/graphics either.

I think you have it backwards, the MTBF of the average CRT is 30,000 hours, the backlight on an LCD is 50,000 hours. LCD's are far more reliable than CRT monitors.

Heck, I've probably got underwear older than this Witkowski person. He's probably never kept a monitor long enough for it to fail from normal, everyday use. The colors will start to fade on an LCD long before they will on a CRT.
. It's in the nature of the materials they are made from. And since I can buy 2 CRTs for the cost of 1 LCD, that effectively doubles my service life, eh.
. It's not that I don't like LCD's it''s just that they have their place and right now gaming ain't it.

Based on my twenty + years designing monitors and looking at our own failure data over the last 5 years you are absolutly incorrect in both your assumptions.I doubt that you have underware 45+ years old.

A good 17 Inch LCd 16ms perfect for gaming is $479 street price these days.
