not a terrible price, was $99 on amazon a couple weeks ago with free shipping. Picked up one then.

"The promo code EMCPGWW228 has been closed and is no longer active."

Gee Newegg - thought it was supposed to be for 48 hrs. Second thoughts by your bean counters?

Thanks! I had a $10 gift card I got from one of my distributors so that lowered it down to $99. Not bad.

Maybe it said "while quantities last"? I snagged this off the slickdeals.net thread early yesterday morning. There have been pretty similar deals on this drive all week, although I think this deal was the best by a few bucks I'd seen. Prices seem to be moving down on SSDs again finally.

What is up with the low ssd prices
Is there too much bulk nand around or something.
Last time I saw these cheap ssd was when 840 were to be replaced with the 840evo and crucials 500s were about to be released.

Ugh... this is excellent price on a really good SSD. But I do not need one right now... what do I do?

Umm, this is what prices are supposed to do. They've switched to smaller node manufacturing, NAND is cheaper for them now. SSD prices should have been dropping across the board for they last year, but they were held artificially high IMO. Glad to finally see them at or under 50c/GB now.

That's a pretty darn good deal. If I needed an SSD right now I'd jump on that one, but I don't.

Same here, the way I see it is if the little lady questions this unnecessary purchase you have some explaining to do mister....

Seriously though, thanks for the link to Amazon, missed the Newegg deal. Can always use another SSD - slowly replacing all of the smaller capacity SSD's that I have acumulated around here. I have one of these already, For my use the ~240 through 256gb size is perfect (I know they are a little slower than the larger dries, but still plenty fast for me).

I managed to hold off from buying $113 newegg deal yesterday, I thought the temptation was over... I really do not need another SSD. All of my computers have SSD in them already.

The only reason I would "need" one is because it would make installing new OS easier - I can just install on a new drive instead of having to reuse the old one, and leave the old drive "as is" in case I forget to transfer something over.

Grr so tempted to buy from Tiger since I don't pay tax that way and save more than from NE or Amazon, but I already bought 2 of these last month for my system refresh. Now I'm debating 4 of these in RAID 0...

Go through Ebates and get an extra 1% back.
I've earned $378.87 back since I started buying through Ebates.
My very first purchase through Ebates was from Value America... Taking advantage of "Value Dollars", of course.

Figures that the WD Scorpio Blue in my lappy crashed last week so I got this SSD from the egg for $130, then a couple of days later they drop the price $20. Oh well, can't do anything about bad timing.

BTW this was the second WD Blue laptop drive failure I've had in the past few months, in both cases drives were a little over 3 years old.

If it was really only a couple of days later you can ask Newegg for the difference back. In fact, if the item was IronEgg guaranteed, then they owe you the difference regardless.

Got one from Amazon for $109.00. Have sales tax, but I had a few bucks earned from my Amazon Visa to apply to it, so it came to $100. About as good as I can do for that much storage.
