Crucial 256mb for dell inspiron 8100 at 53.99

I have read that there are lots of users who have problems with the inspiron 8100 and 512MB of crucial memory w/ 32 MB GeForce2Go card and Windows XP all together. I am running that exact combo however and have absolutely zero problems.

Yes, it has to do with the amount of power that the memory chip draws. That's why my 16 chip didn't work and my 8 chip did. It took a while to figure out what the problem was, but if you dig in the Dell forums (which by the way are a fabulous source of good information if you can dig thru the hype and complaints) you'll find a good thread that describes the problem. If you're upgrading the memory in your 8100 make sure that you specifically ask for the correct part number.

I guess it is a pricing error. The memory should be same as the one for 4100. I bough a 256 M 133 MHz one and works fine for my Inspiron 4000 which comes with 100 MHz Sodimm. I guess it is a pricing error. The chip is same for I4100 and I8100. But I am not an expert, not so sure. Hope this helps.
