Not sure which newegg reviews you're looking at. This model RAM (BL2KIT12864AA804) gets mostly stellar reviews at newegg.

I believe you saw the unusually high failures reported on some of the Crucial Ballistix Tracer models. They supposedly get very hot and some people are speculating that the heat is causing them to fail.Originally posted by: j0j081

maybe it was another one I was thinking of. Regardless I am getting these soon to go with a new cpu and mobo so I hope they are good afterall.

Crucial has been known as one of the top-tier ram companies for years now.
I have a set of Tracers along with several of the non-Tracer version. The Tracers have failed, probably due to the finger-burning heat. Short of a CPU or GPU, I've never felt that kind of heat from a computer component. The non-Tracers are fine.Originally posted by: Lanyap
