Interesting, the rebates say they must be postmarked by 6/10/07 and mwave website says the rebate is valid in 2007. I'm guessing it's a typo but since mine are already on the way, please keep us posted what mwave will reply.

It's just a typo. If you look at the middle of the rebate, it says post marked by 6/10/07. It states that date again at the bottem.

I am sure the rebate will be processed fine.

Got the form and Fedex just arrived with the memory minutes ago! MWave has always treated me great over the past 5-10 years I have shopped there.....

Edit: I just installed this new set alongside my PC2-8000 Tracer and happy to report:

Xeon 3060 @ 3369 MHz
Ballistix (4 x 1GB) @ 936 MHz 5-5-5-15 @ 2.2v

Vista working very well with this....

First off, there are several versions of the D9 memory chip ...

D9GKX is, AFAIK, the top dog, speed-wise.

D9GMH is next in line I believe, and is the most common form found on high-end memory modules which use Micron RAM chips. Most PC-6400 using Micron D9's use this chip, including Micron's (aka Crucial's) own Ballistix modules rated at PC-6400, PC-8000, and sometimes even their PC-8500.

You may find the D9GKX's in the Ballistix PC-8500, but that's not a guarantee. More likely you would need to go to something even more expensive (Cell Shock "brand" high-end modules for example).

Finally, there's really no way for you to physically tell whether you have Micron D9's for sure, nor which version of D9's, unless you remove the modules' heat sinks (and violate your warranty). Of course, you can buy Micron (Crucial) RAM to begin with and remove all doubt, but which D9 you get may still be a crapshoot.

Since you have the Ballistix PC-8000, most likely you have D9GMH's which bin test to the higher end of the D9GMH's capability in terms of speed and how little voltage is required to operate stabily at that speed.
