Slightly different product: that's the regular Ballistix while the other one is Ballistix Tracer. Might make a difference for those who are looking for the shiny LEDs. No difference for the rest of us.

There's another difference.

I did some more testing of my PC2-6400 Ballistix Tracers and PC2-6400 Ballistix today. The Tracers run shockingly hot (to where you can't keep your fingers on them for over 5 or so seconds) and failed during several hours of Orthos testing. They had already failed Prime95, but I wanted to test them more generously in a new motherboard, to give them the benefit of the doubt.

The non-Tracer Ballistix ran easily 30-40 degrees cooler, just slightly warm to the touch in the same motherboard. Even when running along with a pair of Tracers. The regular Ballistix did not fail when running with only a pair, or even with another pair. I can't imagine what 2 pairs of Tracers would have done, but I'm pretty sure I don't want to find out.

Whatever Crucial did with the Tracers, I don't know any electronic component that can take that kind of heat for very long. And I don't want that kind of heat in my system.

Must have been early morning grogginess, I could swear I saw black heatspreaders and 'TRACER' either in the ad or on Frys.com, but a quick revisit to both proved me wrong.

Has anyone received their Tracers recently? just got mine and on both sticks, the heatsink on one side has ZERO contacts with the chips!
