Crucial drops $15! $90.94 for 256MB CAS2

Holy Sh*t,

UPS just rang the doorbell...my Crucial Ram arrived in almost exactly 24 hours. I'm now running 512MB RAM...Unreal Tournament runs like a dream.

The UPS guy also had the RAM i ordered from staples last week. Going to sell this to a friend of mine.

It's always a nice day when the UPS guy shows up with 512MB of RAM that I paid a grand total of just under $150 for.

I tried to get the difference back with crucial, but they said they do not have a price guarantee. After about 40 minutes, he said they can give me back $5. this guys was a punk, but I was frustrated so I took the $5 and said ok. Thought you all had no problems price adjusting.

You should try a different tact. Crucial has a 30 day money back refund policy. You should tell them that you will return the old memory (at the old price) and buy the same memory again (at the new price) if they don't refund the price difference. Either way you get your money back. One way you have to pay a little in shipping, the other one you may be able to get around it.

Just an FYI...AMEX (Gold and above) also have price guarantee stuff...just in case. But I talked to Ann also, and she was cool about it.

I just got off the chat room with Michael and Tara (Experts Online).
After a while, (they were real cool) they raised my refund to 15.30.
I guess I'm satisfied now. Thanks again.

Where on Crucial's website does it say anything about a 30 day return policy. I bought 256 mb on the 26th on jan for 112.69 plus tax for 121
total. A refund of 22 plus tax would be great but I need all the facts I can get since it seems some people get the refund easily and some not at all. Thanks.

Bought mine for $112.19 on 1-25-01 using the AMEX Blue card. Since they have a 60 day price guarantee, I though I'd give it a try. After giving them some info, they give you a claim # and an address to mail the following: copies of receipt (showing original price), CC statement showing item, and the Crucial screen showing the lowered price. The claim # needs to be written on the top of each page. Instead of recrediting your account, they send you a check. After reading some messages here, maybe I should've tried Crucial first.

I bought some 256mb pc133 cas 2 on the 12th. So I got online expert and at first they said no, then they said they would credit me $15 (the real difference was $22) so I took it and ran. I have it running at 140mhz cas 2 with no problems. I can't go any higher because it is a AMD processor on a KT7 Raid

I have included the link. I found it in their FAQs. There is another FAQ describing how to go about returning their goods. It says nothing about a restocking fee.

Aftermarket? Who in their right mind would buy used ram right now? DAMN! All the ram I'm buying is for my machines, and ones that I don't use, I trade away for other stuff...

Only an idiot would not be aware of the prices now and buy it used at a higher price.

Sorry to keep bombarding the thread.

I just talked to their Sales people and the restocking fee is not intended for personal purchases. It is there to protect them from group sales returns. As a result, the sales person I talked to said that no individual will be hit with a restocking fee.

Tara would not budge, so I RMA'd. Hate to be like that, but she did help me with an example for my Operations Management class of how not to keep the customer happy. Now I will have to order again. Oh well,it is $45 cheaper now per module and I will use a pricematching credit card this time, so I will be good for another 60 days. $90 in savings will get me a new videocard too. From the sounds of things here so far, Ann is the lady to talk with at Crucial as she seems to have quite a few happy non-rma'ers.

Thank goodness I have an extra 128 mushkin rev 2 laying around for my new system. It will be back to 512 soon though.

I also had Ann assist me in refunding the difference in my order, which was placed on January 19. She started by giving the standard line, "we're not supposed to price match, since our memory is like a commodity, and fluctuates with the stock market." When I asked what their return policy was, she took care of it. I also mentioned that I might be ordering more memory. Not sure if that even made a difference, though. What a deal!
