I was going to get Samsung 256, but it was sold by the time I got home.

199.99 / 256g = 0.78 cent (I'll call it good, I've waited long enough)

thats right, amazon has it for 216.11 for those who have to pay tax.

in california, depending on which part you're in...it would be 38 cents to 1.39 more to buy from newegg vs amazon

or if you're in california, you can buy it from Tiger Direct through amazon's site and pay 204.68, which is the best deal for california folks

Okay this is official. The bottom is dropping out on SSD prices.
I'm predicting 50 cents/GB by Christmas.

I jumped on it. I havent bought an HD in 4 years. This will be a huge improvement over my old ass maxtor drive I took from a pulled dell system.

Amazon $199! Never thought I'd see larger/reliable SSD's for <$1 per gb. Now gotta cancel that samsung 830 order...

Guys, TD is $189.99 if you go through Visa Offers (there's a $10 off $100 for Visa users.)

There's too many 2.5" SSD deals going on for mSATA SSDs to make sense for laptop users. I was gonna buy an mSATA SSD for my ThinkPad but I decided against ot because...well... they're crap. Your choices are limited to unreliable SF-2141 drives or slow-ass Phison drives. I'll just buy a 256GB m4 and use the HDD on my laptop as an external.

Junk the optical drive and put a HDD in there. It's what I've got running in my SB Macbook pro 15 right now. Going to get this drive and replace the Intel 160gb SSD so I have more room for bootcamp games and such. I also have a 750gb 7200 rpm in place of my optical drive.

Has anyone gone to one of these from a 160gb G2? Do you notice much of a difference? Do games load faster or anything? It's really tempting but if you noticed no difference, I'm going to pass. Thanks!

If I do that I can get away with getting a 120/128GB drive while keeping the HDD for storage. What worries me, though, is the power consumption. The HDD already consumes around 3W during reads. To go along with this upgrade I'll also buy low voltage 1.35V RAM since it's the same price as 1.5V. I think having the HDD + SSD in the system would mean I'd have no gains in battery life or, even worse, it'd be lower.
