Maximum PC had a good article on CAS rating and performance. Their conclusion was that the performance difference was pretty darn small, I think CAS 2 was only 2% faster than CAS 3 in the diagnostic that showed the biggest performance gain. One cavet: it's CL 3!!!!!!

Running with my cheap, Samsung PC2100 CL2.5 RAM, I was dipping down to about 25fps in T2, but after upgrading to a nice stick of Corsair XMS2700C2, I was only going down 30-34fps

I sent them an email asking what kind of chips they used and if it was 5ns. If so, I'm on it! I don't like all these sticks out there with these heat spreaders on them, hiding the info. Atleast with Crucial, you know what you're getting. Plus they have perhaps the best warranty/RMA process, right up there with Corsair.
Keep us updated.
Check out these 2 guides 1 and 2. The first one does a lot of benchmarking of 2100-3200 and the 2nd one goes upto 3700 (didnt know that existedOriginally posted by: pspada
Um, most of the articles I've seen show that upping the CL of your memory is the best performance boost there is. But then again, they were all talking about CL 2 over CL 2.5, not a single one of them even mentioned CL 3. I suspect they never even considered it, from a performance perspective.Originally posted by: SimMike2
