Starting 3/15, the 512MB Cruzer Micro USB2.0 Jumpdrives will be on sale for $39.99, with an extra $20MIR to boot. Very similar to the deal on the 256MB drives a month ago, but twice the capacity for the same price.

$39.99 On sale
$-20MIR
---------
$19.99AR

Remember though, this does not start until March 15th, it'll be advertised in the new flier coming out in another week or so, but won't be available before then. It's only a 2-week sale though, so I figured knowing early about it would help people who wanted to grab one.

now you tell me!
Why is it that I always seem to bite on a good deal just before a super sweet deal hits...

These are excellent drives because they are super small. It is about the size of three normal house keys stacked together. Perfect for people who keep them on a key-chain which they put in their pocket. Cool blue light that turns on when connected, and blinks off and on when data is transfered.

You go to Walmart and get the MP3 FM Modulator - 12 volt wireless (VFM7) from the car audio section for 29.00, add this 512 MB Cruzer Micro and you have a really cheap car MP3 player with a built in FM transmitter and the whole thing powers from the lighter socket. Nifty!

But Radioshack is franchised. Not all of them will participate in the sale. Oh well, I got like 4 of them around here, I'll check, if I remember.

That's true, but there's 5500+ corporate stores, all over the place. Any populus enough area will have one, they're very picky about it. They won't allow franchise stores in an area they think they can make money in

I've got the Lexar 512mb JumpDrive Sport that is a little bit bigger. It has the rubber boot that serves as the keyring attachment and protects the USB end. I really like it (although its not on sale).

<me thinks> now why did post this here again?

Yeah, pretty cool. Though of course it won't sound as good through FM, but a neat idea. Now for a hot deal on the MP3 modulator. BTW, it's a VRFM7.

Did a little research and found the only complaint to be is that it starts over with song #1 every time you lose power to your cig. adapter (short drives around town).
Here's one that doesn't look as cool, for a bit more money -- but it has a "resume" feature
Ziga MP3 at newegg
The one at walmart looks much cooler and is cheaper, though. If it had a "resume", it would be perfect.

I actually tried a USB hard drive on the one I have and it didn't work. I had dreams of 120 gig of MP3 in the car for cheap! Being 59, I can't remember what I heard last anyway!

Strange how those seem to be about the same price has just the FM modulators that don't have built in MP3 players (for people that already have a player).

Another thing to note, the VRFM7 that you pointed out at Wal Mart says it has 7 preset FM freqs that it can play though. Can you not change those presets to any freq? In threads here on the FM transmitters, people said that can be a problem and suggested getting the ones that can play through any freq. The Ziga says it only has 8 to choose from.

That mp3 FM modulator is such a cool idea .... props to Condor for mentioning it, and a link to it on Walmart .. shows as OOS right now .. drat.

I might just pick up the 512 USB drive. I was really trying to hold out for a 1gb so I could load Knoppix on it as well as other utilitis, but this is a good price for 512 megs.
