Yeah I've always loved the single player in Crysis and Warhead. I had started up a new Crysis game recently and was thinking just last night of starting Warhead up again.

It's pretty nice since I got my 4870 but as soon as I get around to building a new rig (mainly need a CPU upgrade) I'm sure it'll look spectacular.

Those CryEngine 2 screens look excellent. Hopefully they are building the game so that even though it's on the consoles, it will have allow you to crank up details for the PCs that can handle it.

As stated before, cryengine 2 is the engine running crysis and crysis warhead. Cryengine 1 was farcry.

Wow, this thread is pretty entertaining. Imagine if Crytek actually just slapped the Cryengine 3 logo onto Cryengine 2 without making any improvements for the PC version. People would probably still praise them for it. Actually, that doesn't sound too unlikely.

Actually, they made cryengine 3 worse than cryengine 2.. but hey, it's console compatible!

Hopefully what they're really doing is making cryengine 3 scale better, so it'll run on consoles, but be easy to scale up to a more powerful pc.

looks amazing. I wish those people would make RPGs instead of shooters

Just think if Half Life 2 was made with this engine. You would actually have awesometastic graphics + awesome game play in one package.

Half Life 2 was pretty as it was, but what it excelled at was awesome game play. The problem with making graphics so good like these is that they always seem to make short games with them with eye candy the focus.

I'm waiting for a MMO that has these graphics that is note-worthy, or a FPS with compelling story line that takes more than a week to play and makes you play it again and again because it was that thrilling the first time.

How do you figure? It's a fine-tuned, modified version of CryEngine2. It's not going to be any worse... LOL.. good logic.

This. All of their publicity over CryEngine3 has been about how it handles consoles. If you have been following it, with what they have done with rapid development, is absolutely awesome. Everything can be shared across Xbox and PS3. You can have a ps3 and xbox hooked up to the PC and have console playing the level that the PC is working on, in realtime.

Since everyone already knows how good CryEngine2 can look if you are given the hardware to support, Crytek hasn't been flouting CryEngine3's graphics. They have been flouting the console accessibility. They have stated that CryEngine3 can do everything CryEngine2 could, but better, and more efficient.

CE3 is just a more advanced CE2. It is not taking a step back in the graphical department.

I'm guessing everyone knows that those are not in game screenshots. They are taken through the sandbox editor with extensive post processing effects and time of day effects. Anyone who has played the game knows it doesn't look nearly as good.

The actual game on maximum settings looks like this

The potential is there. Everything done in the sandbox "can" be rendered in real time if the horsepower is there. And right now, it isn't.
