btw i'm not really understand bitcoin, and not really interested in it, but since i have flat electricity cost, and the price of bitcoin is quite high now, so how much 290X will get ?? in 24 hour

There is nothing google can't answer.

A 290x currently earns about $15-20 per day, depending on whether you are getting 800 or 1k hashrate.

Anobody notice better perfs on 64 bits system, does the amount of ram matter for mining ????

I don't think either one of those two make a difference. I haven't tried 32 bit, and I also haven't tried changing RAM size. Neither CPU or GPU mining use system RAM though.

I use 4GB of RAM on all my triple GPU rigs and have noticed no difference in kH/s versus my 16GB main PC. No noticeable difference 64 bit vs 32 bit.

Edit: Using cgminer

Is CGWatcher known to give less hashrate? I get 1.05Mh between my 2 cards when I run cgminer directly thru a batch file, but only 0.98 or so when using CGWatcher. Is it most likely due to mis-matched settings?

btw, I disabled crossfire, rebooted, and my numbers reversed and went from:

GPU 0 (reference 7970): 490Kh
GPU 1 (7970 6GB Vapor-X): 620Kh

to:

GPU 0: 620Kh
GPU 1: 480Kh

Time to tweak the settings for GPU 1? I was using these settings in cgminer 3.7.2.

Litecoin seems more profitable than bitcoin for GPUs

In BitCoins? Diddly squat.

I found no difference in hashing rates between mining with a Radeon HD 7950 on a 64-bit Core i7 4770K with 16GB of RAM, versus when I slotted it into a 32-bit Core 2 Duo with 4GB of RAM. Got exactly the same hashing rates.

Thx. That's what i was thinking too. Err, too lazy to install a 64 bits OS

Any of you guys using the linux distro off a usb? Was thinking about trying it with a cheap cpu/board combo...

One thing though my e2200 nic isn't supported out of box, would rather not have to mess with it.

I used it for a bit with my i3 but at the time I was unable to control voltage so I went back to win7... Now they're flashed so it is not an issue.

just an update, this may not be news for some people, but I understand that scrypt mining (litecoins etc) is very memory intensive for the GPU. So OCing your memory clocks, even on cards with already high memory bandwidth, such as tahiti 7950/7970s and perhaps hawaii, can help a lot. For instance, I am chatting with my friend faxon, and he reports raising memory speeds on the 7950's he has from 1250 to 1500 helps a good deal in reported hashrate, like mb 20 or so kh/s. He is still figuring it out, as 1500 doesn't seem stable, but it is something to keep in mind, play around with memory speeds! I will try getting my 290 to higher than 1250 or so, see how much it helps

Holy Hell...

How many equivalent 7950 is that??

~600 kHa/s each..

Holy indeed.

@Shmee, its more to due with latency and no bandwidth. GDDR5 flip to a lower latency operation at certain frequencies, which varry on the ram. For my 7950, flipping from 1250 to 1350 resulted in a massive jump in performance. Anything higher has no difference (even less performance!).

or possibly it scales with both core and memory, so each could bottleneck the other if both are not raised consistently? Is that possible?

interesting, must be the bandwidth is needed. Good to know.

Well, I tried to OC my ram in on the 290 to 1275, got lower hashrate lol. I am guessing I have a poor OCer and it was erroring.

LOL! That's where all those 7950s, 7970s, 280X, R290 and R290X went!! Sold out and BAM, massive surge in network hash.

At this rate, AMD shouldn't even sell radeons, they should setup massive server farms and make more $$ that way.. who knows, by next year, they could be well into the black.

Yeah on my 290, when I went higher than 1250 (stock), hash rates dropped. Even upping core dropped the hash rate. Not sure what to do, to go higher lol.

Price crashing. Run for the hills!

It's already back on the rise. You just have to be patient and not look at it from day to day but rather month to month or quarter to quarter. This kind of things are not short term investments. If you want to reap the profits, treat it as a long term investment.

A "long term investment" that's up over 1000% this year Even the craziest investment advisor would tell you to take some profit at these levels.
