Girls didn't like it, can't argue with the bosses. I'd rather have sold more coins and gotten another card and moved the 7950s to 24/7 mining but it worked out well either way.
The 290s Newegg supposedly sold me on Nov 30th still haven't gotten to fedex yet.
They obviously sold me cards they didn't have.
Dif is 19, will put 20 tomorrow and see. But it was crashing before at 20.
Difficulty spiked to 2694 overnight. Projected to increase to 2957 in ~3 days.
What this means is it has already DOUBLED since the spike in LTC prices, and therefore any "profit" is HALVED, and will continue to shrink in the very near future.

Wait a minute, just reading through the last couple pages of this thread, are kidding me, can a single 5850 actually make money after paying for electricity? What!?
I have an HD 5850 just laying around on a desk, and I have an HD 7950 card in a computer that stays turned off most of the time. Would it make sense to start mining by throwing that 5850 into a computer with 4 GB of ram, and then install a litecoin miner thing on my 7950 rig (also 4 GB of ram)? I'm an idiot when it comes to litecoin, but supposedly it's not ruined by ASIC miners somehow, so even a 5850 can make money after electricity costs???
And behold, I'm paying $0,28 for electricity.
I'm trying this with my XFX 290 flashed to 290x
I used the default generated script from WeMineLTC.com to get started at least.
My output is weak at around 540 KH/s currently....Showing in cgminer3.7.2
Tried playing around with the script and saw the WIn8.1 blue screen of sadness for the 1st time....Didn't even know it had one.
I kind of like the able to surf web with some responsiveness still.
Any pointers on script settings for when I'm not using the rig at the same time?
Intensity shouldn't always give you more hash rate, I'm mining on a 280x with intensity @ 13 with 740-750kh/s.
Also shouldn't the value of LTC rise with the increased difficulty?
Anyone able to tell me if i put two 6950 in crossfire to mine back in my pc will be equal or better than my single 290?
The 290 is way too loud. I want to put it in the basement and build a pc around it.
300-400 per card, so figure between 7950 and 290 performance. However, remember the power cost, the 69xx series were quite hungry, and from what I remember of my non-ref twin fan 6970, it got very loud mining LTC.
Speaking of intensity, I realized 20 makes graphic driver crash unexpectedly and randomly in my case. Going down to 18 didn't really lower my hash rate at all, but I gained stability.

Same here. 19 is the highest I am able to go without crashing, but 19 is super unresponsive and gives lower hashrate than 18. 17 or 18 is usually the sweet spot for my 7870s and 7790s but it does make desktop use fairly laggy.
6950s should not be crossfired for mining, or any other cards for that purpose. Two 6950s should give you higher hashrates than a single 290. 6950s go from 400-500kH/s per card which is roughly what a 290x tops out at if you are lucky enough to keep the temps under control.
Yeah had the bsos a few times, also everytime i quite cgminer it does it.
I started this stuff a few days ago. I was able to make .2 litecoins but the shit crashed my GPU so many times.
There's got to be a better way to do this without ruining my stuff.
