I though I'd test out WeMineLTC.com and followed the guide but haven't had any luck getting going. https://litecointalk.org/index.php/topic,7722.0.html

The GUI miner opened for a while (never worked though), now it just crashes. The CGminer crashes immediately - on the command line or using the BAT file.

This is with win 8.1, 13.1 WHQL, and SDK 2.8. Has anyone got it working with those directions?

Same problems here.

When I get home I'm going to uninstall all my AMD drivers, use driver sweeper, then reinstall the latest 13.11 beta and NOT install the SDK.

Hope that gets me going. As it is now GUIMiner just says "starting" but never does anything - GPU usage stays at 0.

Any thoughts?

You have to edit your bat file with one of the new VARDIFF stratum servers from their getting started page.

I got it working as mentioned below. I had the same issue. When watching the task manager and starting the GUI miner, it would start the cgminer which would disappear in a few seconds (apparently crashing cgminer 3.5).

Ok, yeah I guess I'm using one of the ones in this page.
https://www.wemineltc.com/gettingstarted

Their guide is good, but a couple helpful bits....use the latest 13.11 beta drivers and if you do, you DO NOT need the APP SDK at all! I am on 8.1 as well and its working solidly for me.

Thanks. The guide is basically only useful for the litecoin wallet and pool setup.

I got it working with the latest catalyst beta driver (NO SDK) and cgminer 3.6.6. (https://github.com/kanoi/cgminer-binaries)

The SDK, driver, cgminer/guiminer suggested in the thread just wouldn't work for me.

Just start the cgminer with the cmd.

>cgminer.exe --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://world.wemineltc.com:3335 -u username.1 -p minepoolpassword -I 17

650kh for my hd7970 sapphire. The pc can add a second card I have a hd7790

I am thinking I can push 950 kh. what is nice is the hd7970 has a really good air cooler.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835242030

with 2 of these

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835242011

quiet noise free and 58c temps

I am using an asus maximus gene v

an intel i5 3470

2x 4gb sticks of kingston ram

a 1000 watt seasonic platinum. all of this was paid for when it mined btc. sat idol since july.

I tried on and off to mine ltc and finally got it to work about 2 hours ago.

philipma1957, are you using that cooler on the 7970 or 7790? My asus 7790s run pretty cool and fairly silent, it's the reference power color 7970 and sapphire 7870 that make a lot of noise.

I don't think you will be able to get 300kH/s from a 7790 no matter what you do to it. I've gotten mine up to 225 with some minor underclocking of the GPU/VRAM, you might be able to get 250 if you are lucky and spend a lot of time tweaking.

that cooler is for hd7970's I can't stress how much of an improvement it is over any hd7970 stock cooler..

But it is a huge cooler and the pair of 7 inch cooling fans are huge..

I have a matx mobo in a full sized case. So I have a lot of room.

thanks for the info about the 7790's.

I may just run the one hd7970. It is making money and heat .Since it is 27 f today heat is a good thing. At most I will only run 1 pc with 2 cards.

Not like last winter 13 pc;s 23 gpus and heat heat heat.

Far too much work.

For almost no work this one card will make me 3 or 4 hundred bucks over the winter.

With the money this one card will earn on ltc. it is back to the simple fact nvida cards are over priced .

If you can keep your 7970 under 60 while mining that's a huge improvement. Mine is so damn loud with the reference cooler and runs at about 85*C. It is 15 degrees Fahrenheit here today and the only reason I like the reference coolers because they serve as mini space heaters since they blow hot air directly outside of the case.

Even if you can only get an additional 200kH/s with your 7790, I would still put it to work if you have an available slot. They don't use a lot of power and 200kH/s will give you a couple of extra coins every month.

That's what I do with my 7790. I've got a full loop with 2x Titans, and the lowest PCIe slot was still open so I put a 7790 in there. Luckily the card was small enough that the tubing didn't get in the way (but anything larger wouldn't fit). It uses very little power while mining, and thus is quiet. The Titans also still remain at PCIe 3.0 8x, so all is good.

I copy-pasted the profile in CGwatcher, hit RUN,

and almost fell from my chair :ninja:

WOOOShhhhhhhhhhh!

I was about to call 911, then I noticed it's my R9 290 @ 70% fan profile

Getting 440 khash/s out my MSI r9 270 @ 1050/1500 - is it worth trying to up voltage on this thing or is that solid for Pitcaim?

270, not 270x? I'd say that's pretty damn solid, even if that was a 270x. I would leave it alone if I were you.

Dec 9 2218 -> 2694 = +21%
Dec 6 1964 -> 2218 = +13%
Dec 3 1734 -> 1964 = +13%

270 does a lot better than 7870. Even when memory is downclocked it have better hashrate than 7870. It may have something to do with TDP, or better memory timings.

I would probably think it has something to do with the memory. Even when I am mining on my CPU, memory plays a huge role. Going from 2133 down to 1866 speeds is a 10% difference in hashrate.

440 for a sub $200 card is impressive imo.

Someone or something (pool?) is bringing some serious hash rate online after this difficulty change. Pretty smart of them, 8+ GH/s in the last hour or so.

I asked someone to check his hashrate @ 1250MHz memory and he had 420kh/s. My 7870 at the same settings and 1250MHz memory did 390

I was able to get 250 out of my 7790. I found the settings listed on the hardware comparison chart pretty useful. Also got my MSI 7870 up to almost 390. My XFX 7870 card won't budge any higher than 350

Mind sharing your bat file settings for the 7870? If you still have them or know them, I'd like to test them out.

If I format my computer in an attempt to fix my driver problems, how do I restore my Litecoin wallet? Google results all say to drag and drop to the App User folder and then use the rescan function. Problem is, Litecoin-QT doesn't have the rescan function! Or at least I can't seem to find it. I did find out that I can edit my Address though, which I already backed up into another Notepad file.

My Litecoin wallet backup is named geokilla wallet.dat if it matters.

Projected: 3347 in 2d 23hr 5m 11s

2926 --> 3347 = +14.4% projected

So we're looking at +14% difficulty average increases every THREE days. People buying 7950s for $350+ and 7970s/280X for $400+ are retarded.

Translation: you are mining 14% fewer litecoins every 3 days for the same kH/s (exponential decay)

Well my 290 has been chuggin' along for the past 18.5hrs @ an average of 830kh according to cgminer. So far according to the wemineltc website I've scrounged up just slightly over 0.25 LTC.

Here's the config I'm running in case anyone is looking:

setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
cgminer --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://global.wemineltc.com:3334 -u username.1 -p workerpassword --thread-concurrency 32765 --lookup-gap 0 --gpu-engine 970 --gpu-memclock 1250 --gpu-powertune 20 -w 256 -I 18 -g 1

I used AMD Overdrive to cap the GPU temp at 92C and allow the fan to go up to 85%. Its been pegged at 89C all day and the fan is hovering between 51 and 53%. This is on a Sapphire 100362BF4SR R9 290.

You should just be able copy the backup over the wallet.dat file under appdata and it will resync.
