There is a log tab on your cgwatcher. That's how I found out why I woke up with my GPU @ 100% fan. Also there is cgwatcher.log and miner.log in your cgwathcer dir.

That's the one I just got up and running a few minutes ago with my two 7870s.

How can I mine doge coins with my CPU? I'm currently mining primecoin on my i5s and LTC on my i7.

It would be a waste to mine any scrypt based coin with your cpu. Keep mining primecoin, or possibly start mining memorycoin which just came out today and see if there's an early-adopter bubble that goes with it.

Well I haven't received a primecoin payment in a couple of days, and the site I was using to check my progress has been down since yesterday, so it's definitely time to start looking for an alternative and put my CPUs to work!

edit: nevermind, pool is still legit, just the user stats are down and pool only pays out every 3.01 XPC. I can see my current balance is ~2 XPC but I can't see my hourly/daily stats.

Comes with the turf of doing speculation. You have to be very, very patient sometimes. I mean, Bitcoin has been around a long time, and it is only now did it get this ridiculous surge in value.

Do what your hardware is good at. Primecoin is meant for CPUs. scrypt coins are meant for GPUs. SHA coins (Bitcoins) are meant for asic miners.

Wasting 5-6Khash/s per thread on your CPU is a waste of electricity. It'll probably cost you more in terms of efficiency than you'd get back in money, except maybe in extreme cases like doge-bubbles where you might break even.

It seems like the Doge meme crowd have some conviction about their very currency.

Yeah, that's the kicker. I really can't tell whether to take it seriously or cash out as I go. It seriously has an almost legit economy growing around it.

Random musings / questions on this stuff...

It seems like BTC is turning into an asset. The more bloated the block chain gets, the more that will be the case, until only server farms can host the blockchain. This makes it favor the "elite" / wealthy over the little guy.

With every crypto currency, once the blockchain is over 1TB, it's pretty much heading to datacenter hosting. Is there any way to prevent that from happening?

It seems like the best crypto currency will be one that figures out a way to have a distributed blockchain with each node on the network only hosting a portion of the entire chain.

Of course, I know slightly more than nothing about this stuff, but this is how I see it right now. I currently own no crypto currencies, but I would like to do some cpu/gpu mining, eventually.

I dunno either, but if I can get 10x the amount of LTC by mining doge and converting to LTC, I think that's the plan for now because I have more faith in LTC than doge.

Doge has quite some serious viral marketing going on. The kind of viral marketing like "lolcatz" and "Will it blend?". Personally I will never sell out all the Doge coins because the viral effect will last for a while, especially when it has already been turned into some culture like "very currency, many coin, such profit, wow". Let the devotee do their work.

Exchange rates are better going to BTC. Just sayin.
Yep, looks like it. I will probably give it a few days worth of dodge mining on my two rigs before I start converting.

edit: looks like it evened out now. x:1:30... DODGE:BTC:LTC... which is roughly proportional to the BTC/LTC prices, give or take a few bucks.

Why do you keep calling it DODGE?

I hear ya man... I had 50 Litecoins back when they were below a dollar, but I converted them to Bitcoin and sold them for a high power Browning flashlight. It's a nice flashlight, but something tells me that I couldn't sell it for $1,500 now

Looks like Poolerino got hacked, and a bunch of other pools are down or not responding...

Edit: All four of the DOGE pools I was using apparently went down, as I was mining LTC briefly. Thankfully I haven't ever stopped producing SOMETHING.

Yeah, I haven't been able to use Poolerino all day and Luckyminers has been up and down.
I finally got Netcodepool working again and cryptovalley has been working but hasn't paid much.

There's a lot of potential for traders with big $ to make $$ with Doge -> BTC/LTC -> Doge trading, since the exchange is very volatile with big swings +/- 50% or more throughout the day, opportunities to make 50% profit quickly is.. rare.

I finally sold my LTC for Doge, lots of orders kept on bidding higher.

I've been lucky to be able to mine doge all day, minus a couple small hiccups on netcodepool. Just wish I had a better hash rate
