Is it ever anything else but summer in Aussie?

I so envy dudes in Canada or Northern USA.. dirt cheap electricity, freezing temperatures half the year and chilly the other half.

Miners heaven, you just cannot get better than that. If I had those kind of conditions I would not hesitate a second and would setup a massive mining farm ASAP. Waste heat = heating, no need to buy a heater or run it. Here, waste heat = nightmare to deal with and requires a lot of $$ investment for air-cond ventilation etc, compounded by $0.3 USD/kWh not happy jan!

Edit: There's some seriously massive buys for Mooncoins..

My stock R290 get ~836 kH/s with Guiminer, I hear people get around 860 to 880 with cgminer though. I cannot be bothered to mess with it since I've tried a few times and cgminer refuses to co-operate nicely.

I've tested it at 1ghz core and 1500 memory and it gets to nearly 900 kH/s (mostly due to the vram clocks), very nice but its summer here and this rig is next to me as I work throughout the day.. I dont want to deal with extra heat.

GUIminer is cgminer + GUI :ninja:
I myself use cgminer + cgwatcher, and could not imagine mining without cgwatcher.

880 khs...please. People are such liars.
Rule of the thumb is always subtract 10% from their highest reported "stable".
Properly configured 290 should be getting 820-840(TOPS) khs , 1000/1500 OC-ed 900-920 khs.

I predict my 290 will need lubrication in a month or so. Will I lose my XFX warranty if I do it myself?

There's frequent reports of guiminer getting less than cgminer, so I dunno what to make of it since users resport their own results, theres no official review per say.

I'm happy with 835 kh/s stock, when summer is over, I will crank it up to get 900. High fan speed + open windows is a bad combo for dust, you should get it out for a good high pressure airspray once a month. As for the fans themselves, wouldnt worry bout it, never had an issue with blower fans dying, I still have a reference 5850 that does 386 kH/s OC thats still blazing away no issues.

Anybody tried mining with an nVidia GPU on cudaminer and an AMD GPU on cgminer on the same rig? Since I have a 7950 and a 780 I'd like to put them both to good use on my pc when I'm away.

I have, but on two different PCs, but I don't think it affects the results that much.

4670K/8GB RAM/7950 clocked to 1100/1350 gets 600kh/s
3930K/16GB RAM/2x780 clocked to 1200/1360 each get 600kh/s

One thing I do see is that temperatures with cudaminer are completely insane. I've never seen such high temps, literally 20C higher than I see gaming and this is watercooling them. About 55C-60C. Since it's winter I just close the door to the room I have the 2x 780 rig in, close the air vent for that room and leave the window open to keep the temperatures in the high 40s.

I sent a complaint to XFX about my card running hot. They are sending me a replacement HSF and told me to apply new thermal paste if necessary. They also referenced the warranty void sticker and said that those rules do not apply in North America. In other words, you are free to mess with your graphics card if you are in North America. If you live anywhere else, you're probably not allowed to touch it.

(Ignore Warranty Void stickers in NORTH AMERICA ONLY).

I've read about people getting their cards hot on cudaminer. Which 780s are you running? I'm glad to see you hitting ~600kh/s. I have the EVGA SC w/ACX cooler right now, hoping to get good results too.

EVGA Classifieds. I normally have them over-volted and clocked higher for gaming, but the temperatures are just too out of hand to do that with cudaminer. When I use them to mine I use stock voltage and run the clocks I can manage with that voltage.

I use GUI. I get 818/802 on my 2 290s. Stock.

800kh/s with 290? There's something really wrong, some people can get that with 280x (typically 750 from what I can see).
I believe you should be getting much more than that even when not overclocking.

Honestly I thought 800Kh/s is pretty good since a lot of peeps at OCN are struggling to get it. And is on bone stock no Over volt, no OC, Intensity at 17.

Not sure about GUIminer. If you can link the post where the person has gotten close to 900 KH/s with intensity 17 lay it on me.

I'll tinker and report my results.

I re-tim'd one of my 6950's because it simply couldn't hold the temps under 75C at stock once I added a third card in. That got it down to 72C with the fans at 70% - basically datacenter loud, and my wife didn't approve. Then in a stroke of brilliance, I shoved a QTip between each of the cards giving them a little room to "breathe" and suck in some air. That same card is now running 69C @ 60% fan with the case closed.

The other two cards are much better, I have one that sits at 58C all day long, and the other just at 63C.

Weak! I run all my cards close to 90-95C.

I'm trying to get down watts on a 270 non x setup. It's a temporary setup because it's 2x270 in a closed entertainment center shelf…. had to tweak a number of things to keep temps ok, but top card runs 79c, bottom 65c. Anyways temporary b/c at min i'll need to remove one card so I can wind down the noise in that room and keep temps ~65c. Just waiting on pci extenders….

The cards are pulling 722.5Kh/s as currently setup. Have to drop intensity on top card to lower temps but it kills hash rate on these cards. They do best at -I 18. But for 2x270 non x my rig is pulling 410-420w at the wall using a Belkin Meter. I had expected this to be closer to 350w. Can a 1x6pin card, as these cards are, pull more than 150w? I have power tune set to 0 for both cards. Oddly if I lower power tune to -10 or -20 only one card throttles, but hash rate appears minimally affected (<1%). Powertune is something I'm still exploring, but I no longer set it to +20 and forget it.

The cards run off a gold rated Corsair. Eventually both cards will probably go into a bare bones miner on a platinum PSU, but I had run the numbers with the cards drawing max 150w for 420-440kh/s and it looks like they may be drawing more. Unclear about how much they can draw from PCI slot and 6pin. CPU is a 2500k that runs in idle with -0.065v offset and HWMonitor indicates it's pulling 5-10w 95% of the time. Hard drives are set to idle after 5 mins and then there are 6 fans running.

For anyone without a power meter I'd highly recommend something like this Belkin Conserve Insight Energy-Use Monitor With a remote session into the miner you can quickly gauge Kh/s to watt ratio's to dial in. I'm paying 31c a kWh so its critical. Trying to get a ratio of 2.5-2.8 once said and done for about 2500Kh/s of mining power.

GD'mned SCE and their their structure that ratchets to tier 4 as soon as you want to turn a coffee maker on a few times a month.

How do you deal with the summer heat?

I don't. Until four months ago I lived in Wisconsin where it hardly ever gets truly hot.

Now in north Texas, so IF it is still very profitable to mine in the summer I'll be doing "red mods" on all the cards and leaving them in the garage.

If it's only marginally profitable by summer I'll just not mine until it gets cool again.

Looks like CAT is dying. Prices falling, difficulty up 3x, network hash rate less than half of yesterday. < 0.96 GH/s

It's cause the power draw is simply redic for the kh/s.
A single 780 is probably pulling twice as much power as his 7950 for the same kh/s.

I setup NXT locally and I believe it's up and running.
Do I need to register into a pool of some sort, or just run it locally?

I followed the destructions here: https://nextcoin.org/index.php/topic,4.0.html minus the Blocks.nxt & Transactions.nxt which appear to have came automatically once I ran the jar.

If anyone still has coins to donate I'd be much obliged so I can begin forging
3254553118444938497

For those of you forging NXT, what rate are they coming in? It seems like I'm late to the game and feels like the established users will gain the benefits. Are people making anything, or is it more of a wait for the value to rise thing?

Does the Java client have to be up and running to "forge" coins?
