I would use -v -w128.

I don't know how to set the aggression value in poclbm, but if you use phatk kernel then you can use AGGRESSION=? and use a lower number there.

Yup, it's Saturday night, and this is normally the time I get to spend as long as I want playing whatever game I want. Which is why I have the rig. Instead here I am mining, looking for deals on hardware, and watching the market.

Im not sure what I find more entertaining. If prices hold or rise, Ive done pretty well so far even after just a week.

I have two 5870's. I assume if I disable CF I can mine on the card not connected to a display and game on the other. But I tried it and the GUIMiner would not see the second 5870 (the one not connected to a display). I really didn't play with it very long to try and find a fix, though. I just played Heroes of Might and Magic 5, which is not very graphically demanding by todays standards, not for a 5870 anyway. I think I lost a few MHash, but the game was still very smoothly rendered.

So, I had the best of both worlds, I would alt + tab to see where things were, how much more I mined here and there, and got to game. It was a good nerd-night.

You need a dummy plug on the card that isnt connected for your computer to "see" it.

J/K saw this on another forum and thought it would be good for a chuckle.

I think this actually sped things up a bit. Thanks!

What's the problem? Too low efficiency for you?

Well, yeah. Especially considering my projected gains are like .1 BC per day, and may quickly get worse, according to all the popular doom and gloom in the bitcoining community.

That's like, what, 1.7 $ minus the electrical bill which, granted, would be pretty low in my country, but still.

Someone just dumped over 300k bitcoins for $0.01 each. Kinda crazy, saw mtgox price go down to $4 and then $.50, and then almost immediatly bounce back up to to $10. Gone up to $12 in the minutes since then.

I wish I could have just bought $10 worth of BTC for 0.01 each, but I have no money or buy orders on mtgox.

Theory is maybe someone big got hacked, or mtgox itself was hacked. I am wondering if maybe one of the very early adopters (perhaps satoshi?) decided to cash out. It's amazing to me how fast the market snapped back after hitting the 0.01 low.

Something fishy happened. Details will start to come out in the next few days I'm sure.

EDIT; can't access Mtgox.com:hmm:

Yeah... I saw it go from $15 all the way down to 7 cents on Mt. Gox, only to rebound to $13.

This is insane... even penny stocks don't have price swings like this. If people really want folks to take Bitcoin seriously, they need to fix their trading system not to allow people to pull stunts like this.

Couldnt get in to buy anything. I would have bought thousands at .01. Lack of liquidity is the one thing that could kill BTC right now.

Holy shit, that would have been a quick $17grand+ if I'd managed to spend my $17 USD balance on 1 cent bitcoins. Goddamn.

"The bitcoin will be back to around 17.5$/BTC after we rollback all trades that have happened after the huge Bitcoin sale that happened on June 20th near 3:00am (JST).

Service should be back by June 20th 10:00am (JST, 01:00am GMT) with all the trades reversed and accounts available.

One account with a lot of coins was compromised and whoever stole it (using a HK based IP to login) first sold all the coins in there, to buy those again just after, and then tried to withdraw the coins. The $1000/day withdraw limit was active for this account and the hacker could only get out with $1000 worth of coins.

Apart from this no account was compromised, and nothing was lost. Due to the large impact this had on the Bitcoin market, we will rollback every trade which happened since the big sale, and ensure this account is secure before opening access again."

People with that many coins need to shut their mouths and create a savings wallet with an encrypted wallet.dat. I'm getting tired of this garbage. I'm also going to guess that whoever did that was new & did not understand that many of us have auto triggers for buying & selling coins. If I had more liquid capital I would have a few hundred dollars more right now just from some of the low price days.

Well... I just got the inevitable e-mail stating that my Mt Gox account got hacked. No surprise there.

I was expecting that, considering how amateurist their web site appeared. I made sure to choose a password for that site was wasn't even remotely close to my other passwords.

I guess that you should expect these kind of things when a bunch of hackers and script kiddies try to get into banking.

Yeah I just got an email saying my email has been compromised. It's the same email address that was compromised with Sony and a tone of other services in the last few months so that's not much of a concern for me. I use different long passwords for services.

This annoys me but I only had 2 BTC & $0.01 in my account.

This is why I use different email addresses & passwords for things/services like this.
