I'm getting wild fan speed fluctuations with cgminer. I have auto-fan with a range of 40-85%, temp target set. Basically it gets to the temp target than fan blasts off, once temp goes down again the fan slows down, and it repeats this over and over again. I also have a temp hysteresis set at 1...did the same thing at default of 3.

Anyone know how to get around this?

You can change it to secondary? How did you set yours up? Right now I have one HDMI cable connecting my monitor to my 7950. If I change it to my HD4000 instead, it stops mining. My second monitor is already connected to the Intel GPU.

Ah, I heard about people with dummy plugs and so on but in my case it 'just worked'. Strange. But okay my setup is:
Mobo DVI to Monitor DVI
HD7950 DVD>VGA adaptor to Monitor VGA
(my monitor only has DVI and VGA)
And on the "Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Display\Screen Resolution" settings I have it set to only "Show Desktop only on 1" (that is the Mobo DVI).

Like I said that works for me and I never got the thing with dummy plugs etc. The only thing is, with this setup I only found one program which can monitor, HWiNFO64, since all the others only see the Intel HD4000. And I also had to hardwire into the card's BIOS the settings I wanted (925/1250 @ 900mV) since I cannot use Afterburner and the like to change anything. But anyway, my that's the only way I can get Gigabyte 7950 to accept my voltage settings.

So basically you have two cables connected to the monitor? One from your 7950, and another from the Intel GPU.

Edit: Just read this on Bitcointalk.. Wtf? Definitely ASIC.

Dogecoin to the Mooooooon!!!

WTF is going on with the current individual hashing rates!
I know there are a few FPGA builders out there making units and with the Gridseed chips mounted on mini
miners are getting around 300khs on a single unit. (5 chips)

But how the hell can someone hash at 1,379,814Kh/s rate on the Multipool site!!!
That is almost a staggering 1.4Ghs from one single person on the site to date.

To acomplish this you would need approx 318 computer system running 6 GPU cards each with a current draw
of 15 amps min each system, so it would be a total current draw of 4770 amps!

I think someone has a new Script ASIC miner that they have not leaked out to the general public yet or the
next batch of Gridseed miners our completed and testing online? For that also to be true they would have to
produce over 4600+ units and have all online at once!

For Scrypt:
3,000KH/s = ~4.3 times what a 7970/280x gets
$2500 / 4.3 = $580. Which means 4x 280X is cheaper.

Now 520W is good since that's close to what two 280X consume.

For SHA256:
100,000MH/s = 142 times what a 7970/280x gets. But then GPUs are have long not been profitable for SHA256.

Plugging that into CoinWarz gets:
$30.56 per day in LTC plus $21.55 per day in BTC for a total of $52.55 (I left electricity at $0).

Guess IF they ship now and IF these prices hold, then this would pay for itself in ~2 months. IF.

EDIT: oh their price is in AUD so the cost is a bit less.

So the big day Chinese ban day is tomorrow. You guys think we will see a drop? Doge is looking better. Think I'll sell my daily mining payouts today though.

Are most people here just using middlecoin or multipool? Neither ever worked well for me.

Maybe some dumb questions but I finally got back into mining after a long hiatus. I have two pc's going at LTC at roughly 1100 KH (7970 and 6970). I finally got my first payout of 5 coins and I'm curious, what do you guys recommend for selling the coins? Back in the day I did all transactions through mtgox and then dwolla but that since has closed. Whats the best/easiest option now? Also, whats with the talk of the Chinese thing? Should I be worried and drop my few LTC now?

Thanks!

How'd you do that? I just went through the Options and I can't seem to find it[...]

Options, under the Playback section > output > under directshow video, real media and quicktime, select "system default" as opposed to whatever it was.

Then don't forget to restart mpc and it will take effect.

Unlikely. The drop already happened when the announcement was made. It's been priced in.

If anything, BTC might actually rise slightly - anyone who wants to exchange BTC for RMB had to do so before tomorrow, so this means there were an excess of "motivated" sellers during the period after the announcement but before the actual ban.

Convert to BTC and sell on coinbase. It will take a couple days to link your bank account. You can try your luck on Ebay as well. I've had luck there, but your transactions can get cancelled if they decide too. The bright side is that auctions sell for well above market value. Like 20+% easily. Sometimes way more.

I wouldn't worry about the Chinese thing, especially for only 5 LTC. If you're holding like 30 BTC that would be another story.

I finally sold my 25 XPM for 0.1 BTC... Not bad for a month worth of CPU mining

A month of mining and power consumption for a measly ~$9.50 (at current BTC value) is, IMO, pretty bad. /shrug

Alright, I created my accounts and sold my LTC for .13 BTC on BTC-E. I can't seem to find a way to move the BTC over to coinbase but I could be missing something. The bank account verification is pending but shouldn't I be able to transfer the coins now?

Thanks for the help!

Yes you can. It's in there. It's under "Account Settings" and then "Bitcoin Addresses" towards the top middle of the page. Also, confirmation on there is super quick. They don't wait for confirmations.

Holy sh!t.... that's pretty good. With all the rigs I have I should be mining XPM as well. This wouldn't interefere with GPU mining would it?

For some odd reason, it interferes with my GPU minining only on my i5 2500k & P67 deluxe with a 7970 & 5870. It did not interfere or affect my hashrates when I had a 7850 & 5870 in the same rig... Which is very strange. I am forced to run the command "-genproclimit=1" which basically tells it to run only on one core and I get about half the rate I used to get with all 4 cores and my CPU runs at about 50%+ CPU utilization which is also weird.

It doesn't affect the hashrate on neither one of my two other rigs.

Only thing I can think of is because 7970 is running on two threads (-g 2) or because I am using a riser for it. Neither of those two make sense, but those are the only two possibilities that come to my mind.

It is pretty decent, and it's such a joke to set it up on any PC or laptop... Just pop in the USB, transfer the folder with the files, and you're good to go. I have my 2GHz i7 laptop pulling the same numbers as my crippled OCed (@4.2) 2500k rig :$

Alright, I'm blind, thanks for that, got the address setup but I have to wait 3 days to transfer from BTC-E as I'm newly registered. Oh well.

Currently I'm mining at ~.4 LTC per day or 12 or so per month depending on if I use my pc's for other things. I also have an HTPC with a 5870 I may experiment with but I doubt it. I'm also curious about that CPU mining of XPM, could you do both at the same time?

I think wbynum means 0.018 btc per day and not total over 5 days? That'd be in line with my approx 0.02 btc per day at 2Mh.

Yep, I meant 0.018 btc per day. I also got confused on the miners. The 0.018 is from my two 7970's that are hashing around 620kh/s each. The 290x2 rig will be more as it's hashing at 840 kh/s per card, although the reject are higher because of the intensity value of 20 vs 13 on the 7970's. Hard to gauge the revenue on the 290's though as it is my primary computer so I take down the miners or slow them down every evening.

BTW, I am a lazy miner.

Has anyone tried mining on the Z87 Sabertooth? I'm curious if the risers work and multi gpu etc. My Z87-K cannot use the PCI-E 1x -> 16x risers for some reason.

Someone wanna help troubleshoot my setup a bit? not sure why my hash rates are so low vs what i see on mining hardware comparison lineups. I'm mining scrypt so the charts are like this. https://litecoin.info/Mining_hardware_comparison

I have a 7870 and 7850 which dont seem to want to get hardly any hashrate out of the cards, and have stability issues when running at the rated "high" setting in guiminer's defaults for CGminer. I'll list the clocks and config and you guys can tell me if you see anything wrong. The cards are both running at stock factory clocks because they are unstable at anything higher when mining.

7870 2GB Sapphire Dual-X: 1050/1250 core/mem, 1.25v stock core. TC 15508 W 256 V1 I18 T1

7850 1gb XFX CORE: 860/1200, 1.1138v stock core, TC 7500 W 256 V1 I17 T1.

the 7850 wont run at any higher thread count or intensity without driver crashing, it gets 300KH/s at these settings which is decent but a lot less than i was expecting. the 7870 gets around 325 which is abysmal considering how much faster it is, but the ram just won't clock any higher on it either and Trixx doesn't have voltage control for that, so no idea what it's set to. Was thinking of installing Afterburner and seeing if it has any control over the memory voltage on either cards, but the 7850 has no memory cooling aside from the second, 120mm fan i figured out how to mount to it to keep it extra cool since the shroud left the top open for case side fans to blow air directly onto. cheap/genius design since the cooler it came with is a piece of crap, but put 3 together and the rig on its side and put a 3000rpm fan on it and they stay real cool.
