Which BTC wallet do you guys use? Just out of curiosity.

Electrum

I get 400Mh/s from my 290 450Mh/s from my 290x and 350Mh/s from my 7970 mining Max

Cards run super cool and my xfire system only take 550W from the wall as opposed to 750W when mining VTC or regular scrypt.

I am going to mine as long as I make a profit. Hell I might still mine it if the price continues to go up.

If the intensity for SHA can be raised, we'd get a significantly higher hash rate. I hate how it's limited to only 14.

I got a new motherboard and wrote a little post about it, check it out and feel free to ask any questions. (The MSI Z87 G45 Gaming)

I have 1 card on a powered 1x to 16x riser so far, and 2 on the board.

http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?p=36071300

So far I'm very happy. It was hard to find any useful information, particularly about using risers on Z87 boards.

Which exchange?
Cryptorush.in

They do take a .18% fee.

I originally sold for 50 satoshi over at cryptx.io (where there is no fee). I got 0.007 BTC for my 10k

Transferred the 0.07 BTC over to Cryptorush.in where they take a fee so I was down to .0069 BTC.

Then I bought coins for 48 satoshi, where I made a nice profit.

Where is the best/cheapest place to buy powered risers at? The only place I found was:

litecoin mining parts

That's pretty much the going rate. Until demand peaks I wouldn't expect to pay less then $10, but more likely $20 imo.

Try find USB risers if you can, they are longer and give you more flexibility. I haven't used them yet but if I buy more I will try them.

(I don't vouch for the site, it's just thrown around in other forums)

eBay. I've used zoomhash and the outfit that's out of San Fran. All positive results from buying from both.

Awwww [redacted]. Just noticed this post before ordering from the one wand3r3r recommended. They're cheap here too! Oh wells. I think the ones I got may work out better in the long run.

Cheers

Just ordered 2. Site looks a little suspect, but I think I'll be alright. Also, noticed these and was like wtf? These are awesome!

The cheap $10 risers aren't even powered, so it's a gamble if they will even work. I wouldn't bother trying to use risers without a molex. I don't think you missed out, nor were they that great of a deal imo.

So.... with these new crypto format coins (MAX, etc.). Are Nvidia cards worth it? I'm not quite certain, but their prices look quite inflated as well.....

I was this close to pulling the trigger on 4x Sapphire 280X's from the UK earlier.....

Just a heads up, AntiKeiserCoin (AKC) will be getting an update tomorrow. Among other things (fixing the difficulty adjustment issues), it will also be getting a slightly new name. It will be henceforth called Fair Keiser Coin (FKC). Unless the dev changes his mind. Again.

Avoid the 280x if you can. Either get 270's and go in bulk for cheap if possible or go all the way to 290's. 280x's run ridiculously hot, a lot are hard to tweak, don't overclock worth a damn and for the price they're just not worth it.

I can't believe how much AMD cards cost right now. $800-$900 for the 290x, $500-$600 for the 280x, and now pushing $300+ for the 270x. :\

Those new R7 265x will probably quickly end up at $200+ since they should be pretty decent for mining, since they're just 7850s. The best deals imo are open box on NE. I recently got 4x 270x at $182 ea (Asus DC2Ts so pretty nice ones) and they're like brand new. But open box on AMD GPUs go FAST.

Just for general considerations I've used unpowered risers without issue. I stick to having at max 2 unpowered risers in any given system and have 3 different systems not having problems here. If a motherboard supports additional molex or 6pin plug directly to mobo to power PCI slots I'd be confident using 3/4 unpowered risers. Makes for a bit less clutter and saves a bit of cash.

From what I've seen a pci ex 1x slot can provide 75w of power, but 1x cards are designed to draw no more than 25w. Of course GPUs are designed to draw up to 75w from the 16x slot, but I'm unclear if they will draw their first 75w need from the slot and then go to the aux power from 6/8pin. Too be conservative if using an unpowered riser you may want stick to using them no more than 2 on a mobo and use them from a 16x slot.

Yep it's insane. Good deal on the open box, from what I've seen the used market on 7k series and higher is sky high too.

I've always had luck on the hashfaster pools so I use https://max.hashfaster.com/ not bad so far, finding blocks quickly.

The Sapphire Tri-X 290x I bought a few weeks ago for $700 looks like a steal now. I know it was still overpriced for the hash, but it gets me just over 900k while running at 50C on a low fan, undervolted so I won't complain. I really only bought it because its my, if mining doesn't work out gaming card

How are you buying them from the UK? A lot of them don't seem to ship outside of the UK.

Aren't the 280X basically a 7970 with slight improvements done to the core or architecture?

Pandacoin isn't even a day old and it has hit 80+ satoshi.
What's your thought on buying some as investment?

MAX sure isn't easy to get working. From compiling the customer CGminer to getting the wallet to sync, to finding your card settings, its a challenge. Finally got 4 rigs (~5GH) pointed at MAX.1GH.com to see what happens. With the way the alt coin prices have dropped, it looks like MAX is the place to be for now.
