Holy schnikeys. I switched my SHA256 ASIC miners (300GH/s total) over from Bitcoin to mine Mazacoin for giggles. (Easy to do since I've got this rig set up for remote access via SSH.... my Scrypt rig is running Windows = harder to access when I'm gone from home, and thus still mining DOGE.)

In less than 3 hours, I've mined over 400 MZC = 0.068 BTC according to cryptorush. Hooooly crap. That's roughly 50% more than I can mine in 24H at current BTC difficulty levels. Wondering if I should hold until cryptsy picks it up, which seems like a foregone conclusion at this point. I'll probably convert half of my minings to BTC on a consistent basis, and save the other half.

EDIT: Oh and big congrats to Virge_. Those two blocks probably paid off half of your whole setup didn't they?

Mother of God.

Can this be right?

Wish it was scrypt N based. No sense in doing this on GPU's.

Yesterday, I bought 50 MZC since I was day trading but prices fell so I forgot about them.

Checked Cryptorush today to see if I left any coins behind, saw my MZC.

I bought them at 1680 satoshi, sold them on the spot.

Turned 4 cents worth of BTC into 6 dollars worth of BTC.

I think so.... hoping this pool I'm using isn't a scam. It's showing 2000 MZC unconfirmed, 66 MZC confirmed at the moment. I should get several hundred MZC confirmed when the next mined block matures, so we'll see if I get my payout (set to 100 minimum)..... and after a few minutes, I got 400 MZC in my wallet. Nice!

2000 MZC at .000165 is .33 BTC. And I've had bfgminer running for 4 hours 14 minutes. Friggin' SWEET! Of course, it does look like my pool was lucky for a couple of rounds in a row, and it's PPLNS so I got double-paid on some shares (maybe even triple-paid). Also, the network hash rate dropped from ~250TH/s to ~50TH/s for about 30 minutes, and the difficulty adjusts every 4 blocks, so there were some good odds during that period. So this rate of profitability probably won't keep up. But still, this has been my most profitable day of mining by far.

...And it looks like MZC has crashed by about 20% to the .00013 region. Still 0.26 BTC, not bad. I'm going to cash out some of this ASAP.

ETA: This might be somewhat of a copy-and-paste scamcoin, but as far as I can tell, it is actually being pretty well managed. The guy who created it is an actual member of the tribe, and the website works pretty well, and nobody seems to be complaining about the functionality of the wallets or the pools, etc. He is doing a good amount of media outreach. Yes, it had a significant pre-mine. But he is claiming that the pre-mine will be dedicated to the tribe as kind of a reserve, plus some to distribute for economic development. Tribal individuals are eligible for 1000 MZC each, businesses 10k, nonprofits 50k. Since the tribe is fairly small (I'm thinking in the 10's of thousands?) this ought to be pretty manageable. As long as the guy doesn't sell out and dump the pre-mine on the market and ruin his good name, I think this is a pretty good coin.

Oh and also, given my hashrate, I am estimated to earn 375 MZC from each block found by the pool, and the pool has found 7 blocks since I started mining. So my earnings are right in line with expectations, although the pool did have some good luck, but it has been somewhat balanced by bad luck.

ETA2: Well, 0.044+ BTC successfully withdrawn from Mintpal to my BTC wallet. That's more than I'd make in 24H of mining BTC, and I've still got 2000+ MZC inbound. I dumped ~400 MZC at roughly .00011. Which is lower than I probably could have gotten, but at this point I've made my ROI (as far as opportunity cost of mining BTC vs. mining MZC) so I can sit back and be a little more patient before selling again.

ETA3: I guess this kind of shows a point about SHA256 altcoins vs. Scrypt (or other GPU or CPU oriented) altcoins. The SHA256 folks don't hop around from coin to coin as much.... they pretty much stick to BTC. Whereas with GPU coins, it's pretty much a given that you'll change coins every week. So there may be a greater opportunity for "stealth mining" new coins with SHA256 coins than others. I have been seriously considering selling my SHA256 miners, but given this turn of events, I'm now more on the fence than ever....

I'd love to be able to do the same! If anyone has a good guide or more info on it, please PM me.

So far it's working pretty good, once I connected the monitor to the iGPU. I can mine on the GTX 770 and the desktop doesn't lag at all, since it's running on the iGPU. Once I fire up a game, it automatically switches to the dGPU. Seems like 9/10 games work, although my laziness and the 1/10 will prevent me from using it.

All I really need is some way to set the miner to have low GPU priority, kind of how you can do with the CPU.

What are you guys using to mount up your video cards? ATM i'm just running in an old case sitting out in the garage (running BAMT). Thinking about building a PVC pipe rig so the cards can all be free in the air and cool a bit better but was just wondering if anyone here had any pics for inspiration

DynamicCoin - Stupid name, interesting concept. Launches today. PoW converting to PoS after 10 days. No set amount of coins; the block reward changes dynamically with the network hash rate. If you mine with 10 MH/s for 1 block (30 second target time) then you will receive approximately 1 DC. Regardless of the network hash rate or difficulty. After 28800 blocks (approx. 10 days) the PoW mining ends and PoS begins with however many coins were mined. The more hashpower hits the network within that 10-day period, the more coins will be mined.

Assuming you're running with PCI-E risers, there are two popular routes:

1) Plastic Crates

2) Open shelving

Other people do custom frames out of metal brackets or wood.

Does anyone here own Asus R9 290 DC2OC? I bought it yesterday and am close to thinking it's faulty. For one, temperature under load (with or without opened case) jumps up to 94°C with FurMark, and for two, I can't get it to mine no matter what I do.
No matter what other settings I choose, any intensity over 11 in cgminer makes it produce ridiculous amounts of HW errors, and also, any thread concurrency over 8192 make cgminer produce some error. And even if I disregard the HW errors, highest hashrate I've seen is 580kh/s.

Any ideas?

I did, but I switched to 13.12 thinking even the v1.3 might still be bugged as some people reported. Well, no change
I also flashed new BIOS I downloaded from ASUS and it doesn't make a difference.

My machine messed up severely after installing the 14.1 betas, and I couldn't get it to uninstall properly to go back to 13.12 no matter what I tried (DDU, drivercleaner.net etc)

I ended up re-formatting my machine and am sticking with 13.12s. What version does your CCC say you have installed?

Dud card. [H]'s review card was also a dud. I've been recommending people away from ASUS and Gigabyte R290/X for mining in several threads already, they have a crap heatpipe 780ti cooler hack-job that's not suited for the smaller Hawaii die so the cooler is running below optimum.

Best mining card atm: Powercolor and Sapphire Tri-X, both are simply way above the competition variants.

Dud?
Please use normal english, thanks

suklee: DDU definitely works, you just shouldn't use ancient versions The most recent is 12.4 and it worked like a charm.

What drivers are you using? Have you tried running only one or two cards in the rig and see what results you get then? Monitor your CPU/RAM usage?

There is no way you can get 5k doge with 600kH/s. I think you just got lucky within the first couple of hours, but keep me posted because I am very curious to see how much you get on a daily basis.

I use coinedup for all my crypto to crypto trading transactions.
13.12 and 13.9 were both tried. 13.9 worked just fine well before i had any issues. it doesnt matter how many cards or what cards, the results are always the same (significantly decreased performance from expected). CPU/ram usage is in an idle state with less about half my 4gb used and cpu idling

So for giggles I switched a single rig (5k kH/s) to auroracoin and found two blocks in an hour. =O

I think I'm gonna switch off immediately, luck like that doesn't last.

I hope that you managed to cash them out yesterday when they were above 0.1, not when they fell to ~0.06.
