Well if the market does survive than Ltc & Doge will too.

Don't know care about other altcoins but unless the whole market dies, these 2 are going nowhere.

It seems to me that investors are just "tired" of cryptos. The demand is drying up and all the coins are paying the price.

Couple that with the fact that the U.S., Russia, and China doesn't really like Cryptos, I can easily see that cryptos will continue their free fall. I honestly don't even see light at the end of the tunnel right now with continual pieces of bad news day after day.

But.... I'm so heavily invested that to give up would guarantee me a loss. So I guess I'll keep hoarding LTC in the hopes that one day it will pay off.

Your first loss is your best loss.

Though I think the BTC will regain value. Other crypto's i'm not sure about.

Not Perfect but it's time to buy an Under Clocked 2 month old R9 290X`s with "Elpida" Ram for $400 on eBay.

No-One will give up a 290 or 290X with either Hynix or Samsung.

If you're still in the black, sell everything now and sit this one out. You can always buy back in later but it doesn't look good in the near future.

Well, if you intended to sell, should have done it a week ago... there's a real risk now you are selling at/near the bottom since we've went below the trendline ($400). I'd just hold now and hope for the best.

Triple bottom is broken. Market is open for new buyers now. If you're selling now you've invested more than you can afford. If not, close the wallet, and check back in 8 months.

Classic hype cycle: shiny "new" but useful technology gets hyped, soars in expectation (= value where there is a speculative market), falls dramatically, slowly reclimbs as peoples expectations become realistic and the true value of the advancement is exploited. Bitcoin isnt going anywhere, its too innovative. Its just not as valuable as the hype makes it out to be

And it just keeps falling...$0.50/day profit per MH now for me. But, I can still tell the story about how I made $150-$250 per day when Doge first launched with about 1.5MH!

You sure?
The prices are actually going up.
Lot of dumps though.

Now if all the AltCoins except a few died.
I would be so happy.
No lol. But I've been following the news on Reddit every so often and man.. I'd love to invest in some, but the Canadian BTC exchanges charge insane admin fees.

I think if the crappy Alt coins die, then BTC and LTC values will drop even more. Though I do agree, a lot of them are all show no go. The only ones I like right now are DOGE and VTC. However I haven't been following alternative coins anymore and basically stopped mining. Even pulled my 7950 out to save power!

I think this is very healthy for BTC/LTC. All the alt coins will die, it needs to happen. We can't have 50+ digital currencies, especially moving forward trying to make progress over the currency systems we have now. All the people that dropped $600+ on R9 290s and tried to mine at the peak are certainly trying to recoup money now by selling off. They likely haven't ridden through the ups and downs like those of us that have been in it for well over a year (approaching 2 years?)

I wouldn't be surprised if over half the R9 290's that were purchased are sitting on college kid's credit cards. Time to pay them off, at a loss. I quit mining several months ago and decided to hold for the long term. I like the vision of 5+ years down the road, we can use LTC/BTC for Amazon and such. I'll be happy when the speculators leave.

Wow, look at ebay. 580 R9 290's listed compared to 188 780's. People are definitely selling mining cards off in droves. Looks like the used ones are going for around $300. I'd have a hard time buying a used R9 290, or any recent AMD card for that matter.

The only fuction that the Altcoins do is to provide quick pump & dump profits.
Taking them out will make BTC & LTC drop but it will also stabalize them.

Although a lot of people would quit mining because it wouldn't be profitable anymore. Or not as much as before.

Today if the LTC profits drop due to rising difficulty, we just switch to a different Altcoin which is more profitable.
Having no other Altcoins as an option will kill the market for everyone except ASICs.
In the end there would be a steady group of people mining instead of 100s people joining and dropping everyday.

The only fluctuations in prices would come from incrwased acceptance of the coins as a currency & drop would be from massive stolen coins & security flaws.

Why not? Just don't buy the AMD reference cooler and you're good to go imo. I'd be more than happy to get a R9 290X for ~$300... No way you're going to get a R9 290X brand new for less than $600CAD imo.

Besides that, any non-reference R9 290s are not even that old. At worst, you're buying a card that was used for like 4 months mining. I wouldn't think twice about buying a used one if it was a good deal... that's just me though. I've had worse luck with DOAs on new equipment than with used gear.

Yeah, I agree. Just because it was used for mining doesn't really matter. They aren't like cars with hundreds of thousands of moving parts that develop wear and tear over time.

I'll take a mining abused 290 for $300. Where?

Few days ago I managed to buy brand new (not used) AMD R9 290 4GB (2 years warranty) for 260€ + 70€ for Arctic Accelero Xtreme IV .

Retail price of 290 is 400€.

330€ for both 290 and AX4 cooler is really good deal.
