I started mining Darkcoin a few days ago. Definitely uses less power than scrypt. 340W vs 630W for a pair of 290s. Hashrate is much higher too, 7.2MH/s vs 1.6MH/s.

Dang LTC looks like it got kicked to the curb and is no longer tied to BTC....In a bad way. Guessing it's the ASIC effect?

The only people using LTC were those opposed to ASIC mining. Those who are fine with ASICs stuck with bitcoin, those who don't like ASICs moved on from scrypt

I've begun converting my farm (32 GPUs) over to X11 as well. Just using Trademybit's autoexchange multi port feature for now until I'm comfortable putting it on the rental market.

Thinking of moving to darkcoin. I have free electricity anyways. (To a point) You guys have thoughts on vertcoin?

Well, I didn't think they could do it, but apparently alpha T have now confirmed ship dates for their miners in July, and the final hash rates will be 250 MH/s (originally sold as 25 MH/s). Final invoices are being sent out to people who have pre-ordered.

Something is rotten with Alpha T. They have been all over the place.

250Mh/s by July will be a win if they deliver this.

If you have free electricity Vertcoin is more profitable by a long shot. Don't expect any massive gains though, Vertcoin's price has been pretty steady around $1 USD plus or minus 10 cents here and there for a long time.

Export the private key and import it on a different machine. Bitcoins already "exist" entirely on the cloud of the blockchain. What your wallet does is manage the private keys that let you access the specific set of addresses where you coins reside. You can easily find guides explaining how to do that by googling relevant keywords far more safely than I could.

If I set this up correctly, will I be able to access my BTC from multiple locations and have the balance automatically updated when I make a transfer from one machine?

Pretty amazed with the X11 power/heat reductions. I've gone from ~240kWh/Day down to ~150 kWh/Day since moving my entire farm off scrypt and onto X11. The payouts are about the same however (when factoring in energy savings) when comparing X11 multipool mining with scrypt multipool but it is a hell of a lot less stress on the equipment so I take that as an advantage.

Whats the config to achieve 7.2MH/s on the 290s? Sgminer version and Amd driver version.

I'm tapping out at 2.5mh/s per 290 on x11 on sph-sgminer 4.1 and AMD 13.12's.

Ok great, yea that offers godly boost over previous sph miner I was using on x11 for minimal more power draw.

On 290 i'm running
950c
1250m
intensity 18
gpu threads 2
TC 25600

-31mv undervolt

~3.4Mh/s

question, is it worth mining at all these days on a CPU only?

i still have 2012 version of gui miner (mining.bitcoin.cz) that was setup for slushs pool but don't have a GPU in the PC presently. is it even enough to get a fraction of a bitcoin these days? (i5 - 3570)

If you think it's bad now, wait till the next halvening. That should put the final nail in the coffin.

Why? This would reduce the # of miners, but decrease the amount of coins being generated creating more demand wouldn't it? Doge had the best community behind it. Probably still does.

Darkcoin OTOH looks to be so popular because of it's anonymity built in w/ all the NSA bullshit going on. Definitely has more technical substance than Doge, which was just a meme, but still....

One would think this would happen: Lower Rewards = less coins = less miners = higher demand. However, basically the opposite is true with this coin.

The fact is the price of Doge has been on downward spiral now for months. It's now at 50 Satoshis and dropping daily. There is simply NO demand for Doge. Plain and simple. Doge is also no longer profitable to mine. Go plug your mining numbers into Coinwarz and see if you can get in the black. I sure can't with my farm.

The community you speak of is filled mostly with adolescents posting rubbish on the Reddit sub. "Shibe this" and "Much that"... None of that crap matters in the scheme of things. The only real marketing Doge did was get the Nascar sponsorship funded and that was largely done by accident. One of the donors meant to give 2 Million Doge to the funding project but by accident hit one too many zeros on his keyboard and ended up giving 20 Million instead.
