What are your fan speeds set on? My 5830's run at 59c in a not well ventilated case overclocked to 1020mhz with the fan speed set at 70%.

I'm at auto. My case is poorly ventilated (Antec SX830 from 2001 or something with only 1x 80mm case fan working), but if I run open case, my lower card runs at 70C, but my upper card runs at 84C. It's suffocating. I think the fans run close to 80% when I hit 90C, and it throttles if I have my case closed.

But considering my open case stats are so bad still (I tried this at night when my house was sitting at like 65-70F tops), I don't see how I can run during the day lol.

If you have the hardware already of course its not too late. If you have to buy it, then buy only what you already want and use bitcoin to recoup some of the money used to purchase the GPU.

Yea, one of my rigs had horrible cooling and I shoved a ton of fans in it to get it to the point where the card is at an acceptable temp. Of course ambient temp is in the mid 80's where this computer is so I had to add a lot of fans. It's an Antec P182. I have 3 120mm fans in the front now without grills or dust collector screens, and 2 120mm exhaust fans in the back/top. Finally brought temps down.

If move away Monitor off; Temps and Fan speed goes down.
Whenever I cam back Turn the screen TEMPs and Fan Speed Goes up
weird! isn't

Sorry if this sounds harsh, but why are you mining with that? You are getting what, 65mhash/s? Earning like .04BTC a day? You are spending more on electricity for running the card than you are making.

I have a computer which I can try to spare for Bitcoin
However I dunno I am little to late to party or not ?
I have following Hard ware
CPU Intel Xeon 3110 (E8400)
Chipset P45
Mem 4 GB
GPU ATi 5850 (1 Gig Ram)
HDD 1 TB
OS Win7 Pro 64Bit
I do not pay extra for Electricity; I live in an appartment where I have an A/C when keep to temp 22 °C
I just wondering can I get some bitcoin to upgrade the Hardware I have ?
or I am wasting my efforts ?

As you can tell I have Two Computer and I am doing with Pool;
My GTX 465 Cranking up to 70 Mhash/s
I am going to Sell this Video Card and my GTX 260 (Sitting there for Now) and invest in ATi Redon Card perhaps 6950 2 GB card ?

depends what your going to do with the 6950 , if you plan to use it later for gaming that would be my choice. try to find one that can unlock the extra shaders as well

another ddos attack on slush's. i guess the last attempt didnt take them down for long enough.

i'm beginning to wonder if the attacks on the big3 are to disrupt overall mining and keep difficulty down by taking out compute capacity.

The 11.7 drivers slightly increase hashes over 2.4 sdk, and they're almost even with 2.1 sdk. Good news if you have the 6 series card. No-op for 5 series.

This is a comparison under Windows. 2.6 sdk isn't out for Linux until the 15th of july.

where are these 11.7 drivers at?

I would imagine that is exactly what it is for.

It seems to be a single player or small group doing it too, because they rotate between the different pools.

BTCGuild is fine today and they were DDOS'd for like 3 days this week.

ddos were because the pools are banning ips that are using botnets.

Well Gen; Prim Goal is to recover the cost of Video Card; also it will be the card do kids game U Tube and HTPC functions...... since electricity cost is not in the equation, so should be not such a bad move or may be

I think I have a hypothesis Screen Saver cause I think when Screen Saver comes regardless of Monitor on or off GPU nakes a NAP ???

Nobody is DDOSing any of these pools. What is happening is that a guy with 6k bots are attempting to connect to these pools and are overwhelming them. There may be more than one but for sure there is one guy with around 6k bots.

If the guy is smart enough to have 6000 bots, you'd think he would be smart enough to load balance the bots across all of the pools or to just mine with all of them without a pool.

Attempting to connect with 6000 bots in a botnet all at once. Isn't that the textbook definition of a DDOS attack?
