Depends on cost of electricity. The 28nm chips are pretty efficient so it's probably profitable but not very much so. I see mining more as a hobby now.
I pay 6c per kilowatt hour during off peak times and 10c during the day during the week.

Even at 10c/kwh, at the current difficulty and price, it's still profitable. You won't be the next Bill Gates / Warren Buffet anytime soon, but you'll earn some beer money

It's only profitable if you count the cost of your hardware as zero... I wouldn't get additional hardware for the sole purpose of mining, only if you really needed it to begin with. It would take forever to get the card to pay for itself, and only if difficulty and prices remained the same or got better. Difficulty has been outpacing BTC price; this winter the payout will be half and at any time legislation or something else can drive the price of BTCs to zero.

For stubborn cards (like the 6950), I use ATItrayTools to get them to a nice, low 200MHz mem clock. Saves about 35W at the wall.

I get about 660MHash with my 7970 @ 1125Mhz. I still have the memory at 5700... thanks for the info, I'll drop that down and see what happens.

I'm using guiminer and 11.12. I've had issues with all of the 12.x drivers. Mostly related to the GPU usage dropping for no apparent reason.

Hey how to you "cash out" your bitcoins? Can you get them converted to cash into your paypal account?

Since you're in Canada you should use the guys at cavirtex.com. I've been using them since January without issue. They do direct deposit to any major bank.

Chiropteran, even with your settings I can't get diablominer to work.

If you haven't given up completely, here is a fresh look at it.

First, you need java installed. Java 6 update 31 is current version. You can't run diablominer without java.

Download the Newest Binary from https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1721.0

Code:
Extract the zip to your "c:\" root

open a cmd prompt, cd c:\DiabloMiner

If you run a directory listing you should see the exe file, if not you may have extracted into an extra folder, change to that folder.

run the following command:

Code:
C:\DiabloMiner>DiabloMiner-Windows.exe -o mine2.btcguild.com -u karnos_uno

karnos_uno is my worker account. Put your own instead if you have one on btcguild, or you can use mine to test briefly (I don't mind a few free shares!). You don't actually need to enter a password or other parameters.

If that still doesn't work, then I have no idea what could be going on.

Hey guys... I'm using Deepbit and have been using it for almost a year now. It seems that looking at BitCoinWatch that Deepbit is shrinking and BTC Guild is growing. Any reason for me to switch to another pool or anything?

I'd personally switch to BTC guild since it's pay per share and leads to a more steady payout.

Deepbit hasx really high fees, switch asap IMO

I like BTCguild because of it's PPS system, I felt that most other pools get hopped and you end up getting less than you would otherwise even without fees.

I'd like to sell my mhash on GPUMAX, but I've been waiting forever for access and it doesn't seem to be coming.

Eclipse is great for dedicated miners. I use Mtred.com because it has zero fee PPS and I don't always have my 7970 mining.

It has Zero Fee. I am not sure what is PPS ?
I am no Dedicated miner at ALL!
Once while at night. hee ee
Yea I am wasting 5870 and my 6970

so isn't MtRed pretty solid with no fee? Just trying to understand the rise of BTCGuild lately but it seems I should switch out of Deepbit at the very minimum...

are there advantages/disadvantages to merged mining?
