Just curious as to what most folks on here are still using for mining, like how many and what kind of GPU's? I'm bummed I didn't keep up my mining efforts when I played around with it last summer

2 5850s on rig #1, 2 5830s on rig #2, 2 5830s on rig #3.

I also have a 7970 on my main PC which I was mining on, but had some odd artifact issues and temperature was really high even at 100% fan, I've decided to stop mining on this one because a few dollars a day isn't worth the risk of killing my 7970.

Wow Chiropteran, thats a lot of cards. What sort of m/hash are you able to get from them? How is your electricity bill? I was able to get 300 m/hash from my single 5830 when I played around with bitcoins months ago.

What's the best way to sell coins these days? I mined about a year ago, but never actually sold anything. Glad I didn't because of the insane price right now, but I have no idea how to sell the coins I have earned now.

if you are usa based. you can use

https://fastcash4bitcoins.com/

I have it send cash right to my paypal.

or if you use amazon or newegg use this site

http://www.btcbuy.info/ they will send a gift card code to you email.

take screen shots before you send them the coins.

fast cash gives a 15 minute time quote. you have 15 minutes to send bitcoins at a locked on price. then you need a new order.

btc buy gift cards locks price for 1 hour.

so i some times set the price up with one or the other best price wins.

never do 10 or 20 coins. i do 1-3 coins just in case there is a f up.

one f up out of 225 coins sold. i sold 1.5 bitcoins to fast cash at the 14 minute mark and the money was sent at the 16 minute (after order time of 15 minutes was up). i emailed them with a screenshot of the address and they fixed the problem. i now make sure i order at minute 10 or less from fast cash and at minute 50 or less from btc buy.

ive have reaper running stable (so far) on my 7870. but to do so the aggression is stupid low at 11. anything higher crashes out the video driver. so its only getting half the speed i know it can get.

im using the latest non beta cats, may zwap down to the 12.8 driver to see if that changes anything.

Go to stock clocks and see if you are still crashing. I'm running the latest Reaper with 7950s, 13.3 beta and aggression 20, and I get no crashes.

Also, it can crash not only because of aggression settings but other settings you have in the config file.

ill check the rest of the settings, but everything ive messed with so far has made no difference, except for agression.
ill update to beta3 drivers first and see how that goes too.
oh... clock speeds are bone stock too.

I'm having similiar issues with this 7870XT, disappointing. Can't go over agression 12 without artifacts/crashing. Card is @ stock. What's your config? (edit - switched to guiminer/cgminer, getting slightly better hash rates but still not near 400 kh/s)

Maybe I'm missing something.

C:\guiminer\cgminer\cgminer.exe --scrypt -u xxx -p xxx -o notroll.in:6332 -d 0 --thread-concurrency 8192 -w 256 -v 1 -I 12 -g 1 -l 5 -T --shaders 1536

Anyone know how to pass commands to CGMINER on the fly (ie. while it's already running) with a batch file? Passing keystrokes somehow?

I sold 1.6 coins for 142.4 that is 89 a coin!

I just sold 3 for $94.50 each. I'm guessing that hitting $100 will be tough, and if there is a weekend dip like we have seen lately I might be able to buy my coins back cheaper. Or, if not, I consider it a small price to pay for insurance

I used to speand a lot more time tweaking and overclocking and optimizing but my current setups were just quick & easy and I didn't bother to fine-tune anything, so I'm getting around 520mhash each from 2X5230 rigs and around 550mhash from the 2X5850 rig. I could probably do better if I used diablominer and tweaked settings and overclocked, but I'm not sure it would justify the setup time required.

Electrically, it's not too bad. My bill is regularly around $60-70 in the winter, with mining going on it's still been under $100, hard to say exactly how much my mining costs but it's certainly well below the net gains- I mine about .1 coin per day on average, which is $290+ per month. As difficulty increases returns will get worse, but difficulty will have to increase about 10X before mining becomes a net loss, and even then only if the value stops increasing.

$37 three weeks ago, now pushing $100. Think this will end well? haha Bitcoins are fickle. I guess that's what happens when the entire market is speculative, backed by vapor.

What? You could potentially make $400 a month with a single 7970? That can't be right, the damn card can be purchased for less?

That is way off. A 7970 mining at roughly 550 mhash will take closer to 3-3.5 weeks to mine one coin.
Your ballpark seems about right at 550mh, but a 7970 should to 600-650mh, depending on overclock. A 7950 at similar core speeds will do 500-550mh.

Per the profit calculator as of right now, the breakeven on a single 7970 should be 77-85 days at (600-650mh assuming 1000-1100mhz clock, cost of $270, BTC at $91, $0.15 per KWh, 200w system power, YMMV). The cost is even less and the breakeven is shorter if you can sell the included game codes.

well swap out 91 a coin with 80 a coin.

still truly amazing run up in price. we should be at 55 a coin based on the block size of 25 a coin and the hash total at 55Th.
