I am thinking off selling my off 6970, and buy a 7970 for nightly mining.
I know my 6970 has paid off and paid $250 profit.
If I can get new 7970 I may get games and sell those Game codes for $ 30-60 ?
My new card will be very less expensive.
I will have a latest card and I am sure it would serve me long time
Now My Question which deal, I mean card is better.
Deal # 1 $375 + $49 (Tax) - ($30) Rebate Final Cost # $393. Card is Powercolor Radeon HD 7970
THis will have only Two year Limited Warranty.
Deal # 2 $400 + $52 (Tax) - ($30) Rebate $422. Card is XFX Radeon HD 7970.
This will have a life time warrantty.
So in a nutshell $30 dollor more for XFX limetime warrantty and after sales services.
I had 5850 Video card; and After sales services was excellent.
I never had to use XFX warrantty but I am sure they will be good too.
So My Question is this is worth paying extra $30 bucks ? and not to worry about it ?
I don't do O.C. or Modify the cards.......so I usally keep the card in its original condition.
Should I go with XFX or PowerCooler

^Isn't there only a $10 difference between the cards? When I go to that page, the XFX card is $370 after rebate.

I earned .53 bitcoins in the last 24 hours. My hash is 6000 and I have a new hd7790 online at 300 hash. So a factor of 20 to 1 total hash vs hd7790 hash.

So that would be .0265 coins or $3.10 usd if you divide .53 divided by 20.

The card burns 80 watts maxed

80 watts x 24 hours = about 2 K- watts or my price is 15 cents a k watt.

30 cents power in a day..

So after 1 day I earned back $2.80.

I paid 146 for this card and I get a 10 dollar rebate so that is 136. I will get a game.

bioshock infinite sell for 25 so that is 111 .

Minus my 1 day earnings 108.20 is my cost for this card. Will update it for a week. if you have headroom on your pc this card does not run that hot.

two days in on this card . my total bit coins = 1.14 x 129 usd = 148 usd. this card earns 1/20 of that = $7.40 - .60 cents for power = $6.80

As above the card was 111 now the card cost 104.20. after 2 days.

I put a Down on Card on 27 March; therefore you are not seeing the price I would pay; once I decided to pickup a card.
Sorry I should have mention that.

BFL increased prices by 90% and reduced GH/s by 10-20%

https://products.butterflylabs.com/

I'm starting to feel like my preorder will indeed eventually fulfilled, these aren't the actions of scam artists.

It is if the scam artist wants to get more money out of you

Seriously, though... the amount of scammers and lawbreakers using Bitcoin is scary. Everyone either seems to be using it for buying drugs or manipulating the currency by doing DDOS attacks combined with pump and dump scams.

It doesn't say much for the reputation of this currency going forward.

I've heard that they are having power/thermal problems with the ASICs and are lowering the output hashing rate to improve the thermals.

As far as scammers, no, I don't think BFL are scam artists. I think they underestimated the challenges that they would face - I think they just didn't know as much about what they were doing when they launched as they thought that they did and it's been more complex and harder than they thought it would be.

I agree. Watching most of the LTC pools collapse under a DDoS attack, while MtGox goes up and down yesterday evening was engtertaining but a bit disconcerting. That said, if you visited a town in my fine state of Colorado in the mid-1800's you might question whether it would ever amount to much at all. Bitcoins remind me of a virtual version of the wild west.

Any idea of pool statuses now? My main one (Nuking) went down this morning and I'm having trouble connecting to Coinotron and Burnsides.

I for one think it is absurd the way BTC has gone up of late. There must be good(-ish) reasons for it doing so, namely speculation by folks with too much disposable money to know what to do with for the high risk portion of their portfolio, and, maybe, criminals of one kind or another. (And when I say criminal, I mean anyone who commits any kind of action prohibited by the letter of law -- so lots of folks, since downloading stuff became easier, cheaper, faster and arguably harmless).

But still, wtf. No matter how useful bitcoin can be for money laundering or buying drugs, nothing as far as I can see justifies this ridiculous rise in value.

Ludicrous.

I read it was because of Cyprus

I see Cyprus and mostly positive press. Is coinotron LTC still down? I had to switch to not roll for a while. And I'm getting a 7850. With an effective price of 125. That's pretty hard to beat. Thanks for the advice guys

Read reviews. See which one overclocks well and runs cooler. I don't know anything about those cards personally, but I have not heard too many good things about XFX cards this gen.

See I put more weight on peeople's personal experience
So that's why I am asking on the forum

I'm going to have my card mining PPC for the next few days to see how that turns out. I'm still trying to find a reliable PPC Pool - Coinotron seems to be getting slammed, and my Guiminer keeps getting Long poll IO errors.

I personally think the lifetime warranty is worth the small premium. I've never used either card though, so I can't speak from user experience in that regard.

Seems like a lot of people are choosing bitcoin mining over litecoin - is there any particular reason that is? Trying to start things up for the first time and not sure which I should bother with.
Right now I'm doing the sync for the litecoin wallet app and it sure is taking awhile.

Various comments:

- LTC and PPC are currently way more profitable than BTC. See following site: http://dustcoin.com/mining

- I would not recommend XFX cards this gen. The XFX 7950 DD Edition card I have is one of the crappiest cards I have owned. Runs hot and OC's like poo.

- I use ppcpool.bitparking.com for PPC with coinotron as the backup.

- Speaking of backups, anyone mining needs to have at least two pools configured in cgminer. If the primary pool goes down cgminer will switch over to the secondary.

- In addition to TeamViewer, Logmein works well for connecting to boxes remotely. Logmein is what I use.

- If your work blocks Teamviewer, Logmein, etc you can always setup an ssh tunnel using something like putty to a server at your house, a VPS, etc. Just run ssh over a port your work has open in the firewall (port 22, 80, etc). Then on the the server connect to the mining box via your preferred method. Don't use RDP though. It messes with mining because of the driver stuff it does.

Hope some of this helps.

So i just started litecoin mining and my rate is 340 khash/s - isn't that like absurdly low? I have a 7950 and a i5-3570k. Everything is running at stock, but even at stock shouldn't my rate be much higher? The ASIC on my card is pretty pitiful so not sure if that has something to do with it.

Coinotron's website is noting a much higher speed:

What's going on here?

Now coinotron.com is showing 314.6 KH

You probably need to set the aggression/intensity to 18 or higher.

I downloaded the ppcoin wallet and can't get any connections to get it to update. Have any experience with that?

Are those the right flags for LTC mining? I know they are for BTC mining. Also, your LTC mining speed with that card should be in the 450 khash range I believe.
