you know the 7990 are the huge double gpu cards..

the one I have is hard to cool. so two of them you may need water cooling.

you purchased two of these cards?

no such thing as an i7 3440 cpu . you must have done a typo..

Or just slightly undervolt the 7990s, also underclocking a bit too - lower the voltage as much as possible, though. Still very decent mining rate, with rather considerable power savings, less heat output, and less noise too. A bit like the amazing 5970s.

On GUIMiner it says:

2013-04-07 04:29:05: Listener for "******": nl.btcguild.com:8332 07/04/2013 04:29:05, Verification failed, check hardware! (0:0:Cayman, d9502621)

What does this mean?

Thanks

AMD 6970 @ Default clocks
Driver 13.3

Try reinstalling and/or downgrading your driver version. Just something to try after reading a quick google search of your issue.

I installed AMD driver 13.1 and now guiminer doesn't even load? any ideas?

Yes will be interesting to see how many days it takes before it stops ending the day at a higher price than it started.

Another interesting thing is that the BTC exchanges seem unlike the Forex exchanges in that the seem to operate 24/7/365?

Forex trading pretty much stops 10pm Friday until 9pm Sunday for the average joe trading via CFD or spreadbetting.

Because they have been taking pre-orders for about 9 months now and contractually they're obligated to now supply the product?

I'm sure they already have all of their prototypes and testing phase ASICs at work. Don't worry, I'm sure they've got theirs.

QCan I get a refund on my pre-order?
A
All sales are final unless we fail to perform. That means if we do not ship any machine at all. If you would really like a refund anyway, just ask and we'll probably be able to take care of you. Nonetheless, we reserve the right to handle it on a case by case basis.

Refunds usually take 3-4 days to begin the process. If you paid with a bank wire, it will take an additional week or so for the funds to appear in your account. PayPal and Bitcoin refunds can take 2-3 days for the funds to appear in your account.

Bitcoin payments and refunds are processed through a third-party vendor. The amount refunded is based on the US Dollar equivalent at the time the transaction is initiated.

So that means, if you order now, you'll get your rig maybe in 2014 - and by that time the difficulty will be so high, that is is barely profitable, if at all. Correct?

Not neccessarily. In those months the machines were in developmental stages. I'm sure a fair estimate would still be 2-3 months out though. According to their last status update, they were preparing their first shipments a little over a week ago.

Still the question remains, what about difficulty if these things hit the market? How fast will profitability go down?

Where is the catch?
https://products.butterflylabs.com/

Dirt cheap and efficient when compared with GPUs. Shipping starts this month. Too good to be true? I cannot fathom why they would sell these things when they could use them by the thousands, themselves...

BFL has been riddled with shipping delays for months with over promising and under delivering. They had been taking preorders since Spring of 2012 and initially provided guidance that units would be ready Oct/Nov 2012. Since then there have been different reasons cited by the company with revised shipping promises that the last half of month X, where X is equal to next month. There are two camps, the first that believe that BFL will deliver eventually, and the second that the product is vaporware.

Just do some more research before you commit. If you get in line now for the product, it is most definitely months before any BFL ASICs show up on your doorstep.

If when they arrive you can still make a 100% profit mining GPU's per kwh (assuming mining rig has paid itself off already), so say you can earn enough BTC to be worth $0.30 per kwh then yes for sure these products will turn a good profit, maybe at least what GPU's make now.

But who knows.

IF these ASICs are not vaporware... It will get to a point where gpu mining is not profitable for sure, but if one wanted to stick with it, have to go with ASICs... but theres going to be a limit of 21M coins regardless, so mine some now and HOLD on to it.

If it remains deregulated (and it should, purely based on its design), it will be the goto currency for a LOT of ppl who dont want their money movements to be traced, this alone will maintain a high price.

edit: trading for >$250 a coin. lol

Difficulty scales with the amount of workers. ASICs hit widespread on the market early February, as seen in this chart:

As for the dramatic increase in value, that's something else; a discussion full of speculation for brokers to go at.

$231 is insane!! Amazing!!! My 5870 made something over 20x what I paid for it after about 5 months of mining!

A single 7970 @ 1150mhz is now making $350 a month. As the electricity cost is relatively small in most of North America compared to this level of profitability, the card practically pays for itself in 1.5 months. I am amazed people are not dumping their NV cards at this point since 680 has a higher price, which means you could sell it for $300, pick up a brand new 7970 with some games and in 1.5 months you just made all that $ back. In my eyes the 7950-7970 is now the greatest videocard(s) ever made because it turns your computer into a money making machine, for as long as this lasts.

Ebay. Payed about $6 each shipped from a US seller. If ordering make sure you get the 1x to 16x extenders as opposed to the 1x to 1x extenders. The 1x to 1x extenders have a "closed" socket on one end which means you would have to do some dremeling to it to make it work on a 16x video card.

I have an amazon link

http://www.amazon.com/PCI-E-Express-...=pcie+extender

order extra some are bad

thanks guys

the amazon one is coming from china, that would take AWHILE

Just had this bad boy arrive. Will be set up mining this evening after work. Sales blurb states 66 degrees under max load!

LTC blockchain already downloaded so just a case of installing, setting up the software and then mining!

the temps are pretty good with that 10 inch fan. It was not hot enough to bake that easter cake.
Yeah... my girlfriend would love that in the living room... I just tried to convince her the need for mining on my old rig that is collecting dust in the basement, and that was not even up for negotiation. And she even likes the look of that case! I need a proper man cave if I should mine effectively. Now it takes me a month to make 300 USD, or 1.5 months to for this card to pay off itself.
