The TF3s fan doesn't really go any higher than 80%, which is just a tad above 4000 rpm. After 80% any increased fan yields no increase in RPM.

I just doubled checked, peak core was actually 80C, I think it's a bit too much for it.. Kill-A-Watt is showing 400w at those settings, I dropped it to 1175/1700 and vrms came down to 82C~ and core is down to 71C. Power dropped about 45w, 355w at the wall now.

Power isn't a major concern, our rates are very low it seems.

I am running 1000/850@0.95 giving 525 Mh/s using 209 W from wall. I can go higher, but like this it is fairly cool and no louder than say my fridge and other ambient noise sources. Core temp is 56 C, VRMs 67&58 C, fan speed 43%. The additional wear and increase noise is not worth pushing 700 Mh/s in my opinion, but to each his own.

For what it's worth, this is almost exactly what I'm running at too, except with litecoins. My set points are pretty close to yours, except that I dialed down the power limit % to -10%. 500kh/s at 429W and from the wall with two 7950's running at 61C for the hotter one for a total of 1000kh/s.

Based on our recent chats about hashrates etc the last week and my own predicitions Yesterday I ordered 3 x Butterfly Labs 5g/h Bitcoin Miners with Shipping to the UK. Cost me $900 (£600).

I am convinced If I get them sometime in 2013 I will make a reasonable return in 2014.

Order number is 45000 something so apart from those that cancelled plenty ahead of me. However at the time of odering I enquired any idea of expected shipping and they have replied estimated at July as they have started shipping to first 2012 Jalapeno customers today!!!

Checked their website blogs and they have shipped a handful of units today so hopefully we will see so "got my BFL Jally" posts and youtube videos this week.

In another twist the 25G/H and 60G/H products are still delayed due to case redesign and power consumption issues so I could be if i'm very very lucky that I receive 15G/H of BTC mioning pulling a total of 100watts Before Avalon Batch 3 are running and before the BFL "bigrigs" are developed and shipped.

TBH I really do not expect to receive delivery any time before December this year but still, happy that it might be possible.

BTW the £600 I have sitting unsed for several months in an IG Index Spreadbetting account since I took a break from Sunday GAP trading so it was always "risk" money anyway if BFL was / is a scam.

Ordered by Paypal too so can get a refund in 45 days if no hard evidence appears on the web / network hashrate jumps etc the next few weeks.

Anyone else here ordered the smaller 5/GH units off BFL ?

Lol seriously...what about your carbon footprint and the extra "strain" on your hardware Balla? Surely your conscience would get the better of you in you mine!!

We have clean energy here.

As for strain these cards are throw aways, they're just 7950s.

I'm going to use them to pay for a real card, Titan. :awe:

But on a more serious note, I moved the 555 and i3 system into the garage. I'm thinking I'll go with four 7950s in there and see what happens.

Garage is insulated and has a AC unit (window unit built into it), but this is our first summer at this house so I have no idea how well it's going to work out I just know I don't want to water cool them and I don't want 1000+ watts dumped into the house all summer long.

Lower the OC down to where you can run the vcore at 1050mv or less. Then I am betting they will work fine in the garage (especially if you are running without a case and using extenders). I currently have 4x7970 and 3x7950 in my garage. In TX we are ~2 months away from the heat of the summer but I'm expecting them to work fine.

Put them in a place where you have don't have to use AC, if you are able...basement maybe?

If they're in the basement, won't that rise up through the entire house?

Temps are normally around 85F during the summer here, it shouldn't be too bad.

Just got my Sapphire Dual-X 7970 up and running and I must say I'm very impressed. At 1050/340@1.05V it pulls ~200W and with the fan at 58% it is actually pretty quiet. VRMs maxed at 79C and the core is at 63C. I'm so glad I decided to return the XFX Double-D BE. That thing was annoying at 58% fan speed and no undervolting to help the temps. It pulled ~60-70W more than the Sapphire at the same clocks.

Total power draw from the wallplate is 840W with four 7970s@1050/340. Hopefully the card will pay for itself in the next 2-3 months.

Interesting. I ordered a single early on (order number 4721), and then after the demonstration of Luke Jr's single I ordered two more, just before the price increase, order 30246. Sounds like they have sold around 15000 more orders since the price increase.

I have been watching the progress, I'm a little bummed that the singles are delayed a bit longer than the jalapenos, but as long as BFL is shipping something out it makes me feel better. Hoping to see my first unit ship at least by the end of May, but who knows. But to look at it in a glass half full sort of way, the longer they take before shipping the longer I can continue to make money GPU mining. Up to around $650/month estimated income at current difficulty, and power costs for me are around $50. I'm expecting it to increase significantly next adjustment but it's a long way away from being unprofitable.

Thanks for the tip by the way on the Dual-X. It's a great card and I wish I had gone with it initially rather then go through the hassle of returning the XFX.

Hm...good question...heat does rise, but heat (energy) flows from hot to cold, and if the basement is cooler than upstairs, then heat should flow into the basement, and into the ground which should be cooler than the basement. Not 100% sure about that though.

Interesting. That would mean that people can't sell digital downloads either? Game keys, software, etc...

Yeah apparently you have to actually mail out keys now. I gave the option to the buyer of either email or real mail when I sold mine, and said as much in the auction.

Just got my Sapphire 7950 3L up and running. It's definitely a bit noisy (I was spoiled with an Asus DCII 670), but it stays around 70 degrees at 50% fan speed, which is tolerable. I'm running 1100 core, 1.15 volts (in Trixx... GPU-Z reports 1.07). 500-550 hash.

The only problem I'm having so far is that I can't seem to clock the memory lower than 1000MHz. If I set it lower than that in Trixx, GPU-Z tells me it's reverted to stock (1250).

Got my Sapphire 7950 4L yesterday. Nice card, the build quality is real nice. It gets fairly hot quickly though while mining. I've set mine at 1000 core and 625 on the memory and 1050 volts using trixx. Running at about 68°C with 45% fan speed and getting 500 M/h
