Feathercoins??!! Lol, there's too many altcoins...don't know which ones to mine!!

I'll stick with LTC for now...and probably miss the boat on one that skyrockets.

You just cursed yourself to a 4X difficulty increase, you know.

It's OK, I was smart enough to mine myself a small pile of them beforehand this time. Now I need people to help me convince BTC-E to open a FeatherCoin exchange so I can safely sell some

But, yeah... I can still mine 20 of them a day now on a lowly Radeon 6870. When was the last time you could do that with Bitcoin or Litecoin?

And there we have mined the last blocks and the system calculated a new difficulty.

Difficulty:
Few days ago: 8,9 million
Today: 10 million
Price have also declined.

What resulted this in? Calculcated on the same BTC price:

One 7970 profit went from $144 - $128
4 * 7970 profit went from $579 - $512

(Electricity not deducted from profit)

Profit drops faster than revenue if your costs are more than zero. This is always true no matter what you are talking about.

For instance if you have $5 in electricity costs, and your revenue goes from $12 to $6, your revenue dropped by 50% ($12 to $6), but profits went from $7 to $1, a drop of more than 85%.

Price drives difficulty, not the other way around. This has been debated for years now and it's true: higher prices get miners excited and they plow resources into mining, thus driving up difficulty. Rising difficulty does not by itself push up prices. If there is a huge disconnect then maybe some people stop buying coins directly and buy mining rigs instead, but otherwise, price is a function of supply and demand. Demand is generated from enthusiastic users/speculators/etc. and supply is fixed at 7200 (now 3600) coins per day. It doesn't matter if there is one miner or one million miners, only 3600 coins are produced per day. Furthermore 3600 coins is just a tiny drop in the bucket; over 11 million bitcoins have already been mined. So each day's mining doesn't materially impact supply.

Short story is that higher prices leads to higher difficulty, but higher difficulty does not necessarily lead to higher prices.

Yup pretty much. I have seen people thinking that their GPUs will survive because price will automatically go up with difficulty which is not the case.
Also, BFL is now shipping out 50GH miners as well as Jalapenos.

Now is probably a good time to buy some what with the price drop and the ATM being shown in San Diego tomorrow might bring some new interest and value

Yeah, I wish I had some money in the exchange.

As far as BFL, I got a little excited seeing this in my inbox-

But my single isn't shipping yet- it's a request for confirmation, I guess they want to make sure customers are okay with the increased power usage before shipping out. BFL site is hammered.

BFL website is working now. I accepted the terms. Just hoping I get a device before difficulty increase ten-fold.

I'd say it's too late. Unless you're dedicating a rig for it with a low kWh, it's not worth it. Of course, you can always jump on an altcoin and hope for the best.

Heh. I'm kind of glad I missed out on all this. Seems its getting more stressful by the hour.
Now feathercoins. I'm telling you, smurfcoins aren't far away!
So chirops, did BFL confirm for you? Is it on the way?

We already have BBQCoins. They should do a cross promotion with Chili's and offer some rib and chicken dinner coupons for those

I think that the next one will be Aircoin... they are running out of lighter sounding coin names!

My first order is number ~4000. As I understand, the real orders started at ~2000. A new order placed today is something like ~40000 in line. I don't think I will get my device in the first few weeks, but I should get it sooner than most.

Order status changed from "pending approval" to "processing".

Yeah, with all the news of shipping ASICS, I'm not counting on continuing my 1.6 ghash operation beyond the end of June at the latest. But of course I'll hold on as long as possible, and there's always wait-and-see what happens to LTC difficulty and prices as GPU BTC becomes less and less profitable.

My order number placed on the 22nd was 45300 something. However, my Invoice number paid there and then by Paypal is 21000 something.

I think we should be more inclined to go via invoice numbers as they are only produced on payment. There could be 20000+ unpaid bogus "orders".

There are other payment methods besides PayPal.

Not a Paypal Invoice, and BFL Invoice. 1 invoice = 1 paid for sale.

For sure you can order what you like but the wont make it or ship it until you have paid!!

I understood that only paid orders are in the que for delivery therefor someone who ordered inthe 10'000s but who aint paid yet will be behind me for delivery.

Same. My orders are 6300s, and they're still "processing".
