Maybe someone can help me out.

I am doing the tutorial on wemineltc.com

Using cgminer 3.5 does nothing, i just tried 3.7 even though the tutorial says that it does not support LTC. 3.7 says sick suggest a hard hang.

This is what i am putting in the cgminer file that i create.

setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
cgminer --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://global.wemineltc.com:3334 -u Tutorial.1 -p 1234 --thread-concurrency 20420 --lookup-gap 0 --gpu-engine 947 --gpu-memclock 1250 --gpu-powertune 20 -w 512 -I 20 -g 2

Yes i put my worker name and password.

Card is a 290.

Any tips?

I'm not sure that server is still active because it is no longer listed in the wemineltc.com getting started page.

Statum Servers:
World-Wide Server (VARDIFF 16-600): stratum+tcp://world.wemineltc.com:3334
World-Wide Port 80 Server (VARDIFF): stratum+tcp://world.wemineltc.com:80

Try one of those two.

i decied to playa orund with LTC a bit, using wemineltc but whenever i use cgminer, i get an error that cgminer.exe has stopped working.

I had the same thing with 3.5, gave 3.7.2 a try and now I am mining! Although I don't really expect to continue, just playing around.

Hope I don't burn up my 6770 just playing around Should i change some settings so my card inst working so hard? Not sure whats what. Power tune was at 20 and all I could find said it was about extra voltage which didn't sound safe so i lowered it. The wiki page had the -I at 18 for my card. I changed that trying to get 3.5 to work and haven't changed it back.

thread-concurrency 8192 --lookup-gap 0 --gpu-engine 850 --gpu-memclock 1200 --gpu-powertune 5 -w 256 -I 10 -g 1

Also, How bad is 77 kH/s? How many years until I have one litecoin?

Got it to work. Wow card is cooking now.

Fan is a 3100 rpm

810 or so khs it jumps a bit.

Should i worry about the rejected stuff? And how do i check how much i have made? Is it on the litecoin wallet?

You're mining at wemineltc.com? You can check your balance along the left hand side of the site.

As for rejected shares, how many are you getting? I've had 29 rejected this session out of 4100+ shares ~ 0.69%

Temps seem a bit on the high side, my friends 290 is doing 830 kh/s at 78C (~4100 RPM fan or 75%)

I am letting the gpu via ccc do its thing with the fan. Since AMD said the gpu was design to run at 95c i will let ccc dictate how to cool it.

I haven't check the website again, i just started before when i posted. I am going to bed and will update the threat tomorrow for more advice.

To stop the mining if i want to play bf4 do i just close the cgminer window?

Thanks for the help once more.

You should set the Overdrive to have temp target of 87C, since if it goes above 90C, its been shown R290s will consume extra power, thus generating even more heat.

He prob got a golden chip. I am most likely going to return this one, i was hoping i could unlock it to 290X but i cannot. Will either try another one to see if i get lucky with unlock and water cool it, or just get a non ref air cool version.

I raised the fan to 75 and temps dropped quick.

Just did that. Thanks for the tip.

After reading about all this craze I plugged back into a computer an old and trusty HD 5850. I got 320 KH/s with 220W at the wall throwing a profit of $88 per month after electricity.

The funny thing is that I had a BTC wallet in my old computer with 0.36 BTC on it that I mined in one afternoon testing BTC mining back in mid 2012. Took 3 days to sync. I think I'll cash it and buy a 280X or something.

Wait til it goes back up in price, you can grab a R290 soon.

My old 5850 at 925mhz core (no voltage changes) did 367 kHa/s, pretty dang good for such old tech. It was going full blast for a few days and fan didn't even went above 37%, ridiculously silent in comparison to these R290.

The 290s Newegg supposedly sold me on Nov 30th still haven't gotten to fedex yet.

They obviously sold me cards they didn't have.

You guys should REALLY REALLY read the cgminer documentation. Stop trying to put funky stuff in the command line, like -w 512. The maximum is 256! And you should also experiement with lower numbers, higher does NOT mean better very often.

Same here but it gets all the way up to 60% fan and 78º at 900 Mhz and that's a lot of noise. So much that it's annoying anywhere in the house so I run it at stock.

I don't know what you guys use to withdraw from BTC-e, but I just converted 14 LTC to .5 BTC and sold it on coingator with payout to paypal.

Took about 3 hours after they opened this morning, but it went smooth with a 7% fee...

I have $900 in my paypal from selling my 7950s and the LTC, can't wait to get a new card courtesy of my radeons

Wait and get an aftermarket R290 and enjoy gaming and making $$ with it.

When you're done next time, you can cash out and get a free upgrade to 20nm GPUs.

I've made enough coins to cover the cost of 1 R290 already, so its essentially FREE onwards. A few more weeks and both would be free.

I have enough LTC for a few more gens, lol... I'm not mining anymore diff is getting too high

Even at this diff, 2x 7950 you will get ~15 coins a month. Lets not even fantasize it will $400 each or something, at around $40 each its good for free upgrade.

It's weird to turn down $$, just leave the rig running in the garage or something if its noisy and the wife is angry heh
