I'm surprised no-one has named their coin "Nazi Gold!" yet. If anyone uses that idea, please donate some LTC to me :3

It went up a little bit, like 0.00000085/BTC, but I can't remember what the recent max was. I think like 0.00000150 or something. I have to make up my mind about some specific number and just trade when it gets there.

Meanwhile, I'm back at LTC mining in the background.
I'm not sure why you'd mine litecoin. At the very least, you should be mining on one of the multi-coin pools. Doge is still FAR more profitable than litecoin.

I like to mine and decide what to do with the coins. Those multi-coin pools automatically exchange for BTC, like Middlecoin, right?

DOGE is a stupid joke, and everyone might suddenly abandon it tomorrow, and I don't like that much risk. More profitable? Maybe... And maybe not.

It's definitely more profitable in the short run since you can make more mining Doge and just converting right away rather than mining BTC/LTC. So if you are risk averse, that's what you should be doing. But if you like taking risks, then you should stick with the Doges hoping that they will one day be worth a few bucks.

The reason why many people don't like mining alt-coins is because they are extremely volatile and if you don't time things right, you can do WORSE by mining alt-coins. For instance if you mine "coin X" all day and then it comes time to exchange it for something else you may get a very unpleasant surprise as it may have crashed in value in the meantime, or exchanges are down and you have to sit on it overnight and by the time you can trade it's worth way less.

This along with pools being less stable and reliable than than more established coins.

kittencoin lol...Not mining this [redacted]. It's funny the first time, people just don't know when to stop.

Profanity isn't allowed in the technical forums.

Same here... I like having the wemineltc mobile app to monitor my account, keeps me at ease.

Maybe when doge.netcodepool servers come back up I'll see if I can mine some more doge and covert them to LTC.

Can you try something like the following and let me know how well it does?

cgminer-3.7.2\cgminer.exe" --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://pool1.us.multipool.us:7777 -u x.x -p x --thread-concurrency 24000 -I 19 -w 256 -g 1 --gpu-engine 1080 --gpu-memclock 1500 --gpu-powertune 20

(Disclaimer: I take no responsibility or liability if this melts your computer/videocard/psu/house/etc)

Thanks I've tried this as well. I still end up with about 320 with this.

This still nets me 385 to 400 ish.

cgminer.exe" --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://pool1.us.multipool.us:3352 -u x.x -p x --thread-concurrency 8000 -I 12 -w 256 -g 1 --gpu-engine 1080 --gpu-memclock 1500 --gpu-powertune 20

I think it's best to focus on cryptos that have a shot at longevity. LTC is obviously one, but there will most likely be 1-2 more coins that will be there for the long-term. Ability to mine via GPU in for the duration of the mining process will be a big part of a coin's long-term viability, IMO. Obviously BTC has a flaw in this area, but there are still plenty of people willing to mine it via asics.

Maybe coins 3 & 4 haven't even been developed yet, but I'm curious to hear from you guys if you think any of the current crop of coins has a shot at long-term usage right alongside, and complimenting BTC & LTC.

Any SHA-256 coin other than BTC and
Any Scrypt coin other than LTC is a scam.

Anyone that doesn't know why this is shouldn't be making predictions about crypto.

So if I come in with a scrypt altcoin not named litecoin with a completely solid business plan including an exchange, merchant support lined up, and vc to fiat ability right out of the box, I'm instantly a scam?

Come on.

While I agree that MOST of these altcoins are nothing but someone wanting to me-to, there's no reason to not investigate every altcoin that comes out to see what merits it may have. For example, sexcoin actually has an industry behind it that has the potential to move it's adoption within certain circles. Will it be mainstream? No. But it most certainly could have its place within the virtual currency economies.

Exactly.

Make a new cryptographic algorithm or a new protocol or gtfo.

Your name is communism. Explains everything, communist

So my LTC are stuck at CoinedUp again... This is so annoying. CoinedUp needs to fix their servers ASAP.

I get less than 280 on my XFX 7870 when I run at those settings D:

Back to 900/1250 I go

So if my calculations are correct, DOGE to LTC to BTC are cheaper than DOGE to BTC on CoinedUp.

When I swapped my 6850 for my 270 I thought I could just change a few settings but for some reason it didn't work like that. Some friends suggested I try out CGWatcher and using that and adding

Code:
del *.bin
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1

to my .bat allowed me to play with settings like thread concurrency that before caused the miner to not start.

I'm currently getting 417 and probably have some more room to improve.

Im sticking with LTC.

My 290 is doing 813Kh/s at WeMineLTC which gets me .25-.3 a day so far.

I've found 1 block so far....Too bad they don't pay a bonus.

I also have a couple coins on BTC-E that I've been selling high buying low.

So far BTC-E is virtual crossfire when I don't miss the high mark(11 cents last night). Most of time I'll gain a day of mining or two on 1 sell 1 buy back.

That rate is about on par with my overclocked 5850. I would think that your 7870XT is capable of doing better than this, very confusing.

Now, seeing how your 7870XT is based on the 79XX GPU chip, why not try swapping your settings for those used on a 7950? Then adjust down the numbers accordingly, based on the disabled portions of the 7950 chip.

For example, your thread concurrency of 8000 seems more appropriate for an HD 7700 card, which is way off compared to the roughly 21000-24000 you would use on a 7950. Seeing how your chip is a partially disabled 7950, why not increase your thread concurrency to maybe 20000? Technically I think it's a function of shaders or something, so getting the right number might just be a simple equation and knowing how many hardware things are still active on your 7950 chip running as a 7870XT.

Not sure what del *.bin does but I have the other two lines at the top of my bat file.

The system where my XFX 7870 is located also has an MSI 7870 and I have never had any other GPUs in that rig.
