Things will get interesting when Nxt releases their source code. I wholeheartedly expect a lot of Alt-Nxt to come out very soon after that.

Anyone having problems with btcguild's stratum servers? My ASIC is having problems connecting. I noticed that they had server issues yesterday, but not sure if it's still happening.

Well, something apparently happened to my NXT account/file/whatever. I tried logging in the other day and it just sat there, never gave me a page. After a reboot, I logged in and I have a completely new account number and no transactions, balance or anything.

Fail.

If your passphrase is the same it should give you the same account number. It's a "brain" wallet so you can access your account from ANY node (not that I recommend that for security reasons).

I tried that. Like I said, the other day I tried logging in from local host and it just sat there trying to load, and load, and load. Never failed or whatnot. After a reboot it came up, but the password generated a completely different address than the one I posted here. I tried multiple permutations of it and nothing even came close.

Are you using the 0.4.4 client? At worst you can always delete your client, redownload it, and then bootstrap it with the correct block chain. I had to do that when I screwed up my upgrade from 0.4.2.

My calculation is simple. I already have gaming cards sitting around. My wife was cold and she turned on an electric space heater to warm up.

So for me, mining is quite a no brainer duh kind of decision. Use a card I already own, to create heat. It is very wasteful to turn on a dedicated space heater that converts electricity into heat. Much better to convert your spare computers into space heaters that also generate coins. This only holds true for winter, and if you also have a wife that likes to use space heaters. My wife was like "hurry up and set up the 2nd computer for heating or else I'm turning the space heater back on" heh OK honey...

They really need to make NXT more user friendly... I'm eagerly looking forward to the source code so I can get my hands on some of those bounties...

They sure do. And make a proper account system with username, password, address backup email, so you're not totally screwed if you forgot your phrase.

Just downloaded the program and ran it, seems very basic.

Though I don't think anyone will send..

How can you tell if your NXT client is actually doing anything? I'm running 0.4.2.

Also, anyone know how to send NXT? In the recipient box do I put a wallet? I am trying to send NXT from one wallet to another and it says "money is sent" but it doesn't seem to work. The balance in the wallet that I'm sending from doesn't change.

Yeah, mine is acting strangely as well. According to the block chain explorer, I have a balance of 250 NXT (thanks for the donation!) on my account, but when I log in via my local client I don't see any balance. Is that because of various DDOS's and other hackery? I know the transaction has over 1500 confirmations, but beyond that I can't tell what's up.

Edit: nm, I tried another (public) node and it shows up now. I'm going to restart my local node.

Edit2: Upgraded to the latest version and now it's working.

Everyone who has posted so far with a NXT address has received 250NXT from me. This is a brain wallet so it is very important that you don't forget your secret pass phrase, it can not be retrieved if you do.

What is NXT? No more love for dogecoin?

Dogecoin is still the most consistently profitable scrypt coin to mine. I am still mining it, but since my hardware + power costs have been paid for by mining profits, what DOGE I trade for BTC has been going to buying NXT.

At this point NXT still costs peanuts compared to what it could become, and it represents a serious threat to BTC and other PoW coins. A few major barriers to its adoption are 1) lack of user friendly client (coming eventually) and 2) lack of decentralized exchanges/more exchanges (coming eventually).

Time will tell if NXT will become the first successful proof-of-stake coin or not, but I am staking a small, early claim in the hopes that it does eventually become the next bitcoin.

Thanks to gbeirn for piquing my interest and sending me the NXT to get started.

Interested in trying out some NXT. I have been playing with Doge for a few days too.

Curious to see it all plays out.
