I tried out the Stilts Bioses but cgminer went haywire and when I returned the original BIOSes I can't even get cgminer to cooperate. I downloaded GUIMiner, but when virustotal had ~ half of the Antiviruses showing positive I don't think I'll use it. I know it's probably because viruses use cgminer but I'm still trying to be cautious. Now I can't even mine until I get cgminer to cooperate again. I tried reinstalling the drivers etc. to no avail.

-Edit: Trying difficulty 17 is appearing to work... Just have to try raise it back up soon.

I had this problem before, and I think a windows reinstall helped. I guess I forgot it's better not to mess with it but I thought I could go from 1.7Mh/s closer to 2Mh/s.

I'm having some weird side effect in cgminer where the temperature and hash rate are on different lines. So GPU 0 temp = GPU 1 hashrate, and GPU 1 temp = GPU 0 hashrate (temps on wrong line). I have tried to unzip it etc. and it doesn't help. Has anyone had anything like this before?

That people are so pissed off about the horrible launch that was MaxCoin, missing the boat, etc.

Basically it's just another altcoin, scrypt-based, nothing interesting about it, except it's promoting everything that wasn't about MaxCoin - "fair".

Any word on whether there will be any exchanges using AKC at launch?

Apparently the DOGE pump late last month was due to a Chinese guy named Wolong. He single handedly raised the price of DOGE. Wow. That's creepy.

If you believe that (entertaining, but questionable) series of posts. Guy seriously sounds like he has a god complex, which makes me discount his credibility.

Yup. There are people massively spamming the bitcoin network with malformed transactions.

This is a similar problem that affected Mt Gox. Except in the case of Gox, their broken software was issuing malformed transactions that, most of the time, would get rejected by the bitcoin network. Occasionally, they would get accepted, or someone would relay the transaction and "fix" it, allowing it to be accepted (but under a new transaction ID).

In this attack, a bunch of very well connected nodes are scanning the blockchain and detecting fresh transactions, they are then rebroadcasting them in "broken" form, in the hope that one of the few miners running an out-of-date bitcoin wallet will accept the "broken" transaction and that the "broken" transaction will "stick".

In general, all this is doing is causing transactions to fail or not confirm. The reference bitcoin wallet and other major wallets (such as armory) will not double-spend or lose coins.

However, in view of the serious disruption, a number of exchanges are stopping transactions until the attack is over, or is deactivated (e.g. all miners updated to the latest wallet, etc.)

He was one of those early hoarders, buying out all the Doge on market after launch on exchanges. Buying them at ridiculous prices like 30 or 40 satoshi.. back then, everyone rushed to sell at those prices never expecting Doge to hit 300 satoshi soon. To think that dude has 5B Dogecoin to himself..

Obviously with such a stake, he and his investors want to keep on pumping Doge hard.

So, appears the bubble has burst!?....
http://www.irishtimes.com/business/...nges-as-market-suspends-withdrawals-1.1687382

Will we see AMD radeons coming back to the market at RRP?

Actually, it was just the gox crew being idiots/possibly sleazy market manipulators:
http://developers.slashdot.org/stor...in-protocol-flaw-to-blame-for-mt-gox-problems

Read some actual insight from other exchange devs, or the bitcoin devs themselves and make up your mind whether this is going to put a dent in the value of cryptocurrencies.

Thanks to the financial media's poor fact-checking and hasty scoop-sniping, I've made about 2 grands in one day and there seems to be a second wave coming from those who were slow to catch the news... The times are good to those who aren't born every minute.

Try:

Those worked for me, there are others listed on the site too.

I don't get it. I downloaded win32 wallet, people claim that it contains a botnet virus? I'm not running AV. Of course my Win7 is safely contained inside a Parallels installation, but still kind of troubling....

Thanks, those nodes worked for me for a little bit, but then I dropped back down to 0 connections? Using the command line client now. I have no idea WTF is going on, connections go up to 3 and then drop back down to 0, I thought they would increase once I was connected to a couple of nodes?

EDIT: Screw this, "fair launch" means no reward for first blocks anyway. I'm running a virus scan and stopping the daemon. Also setting up an Ubuntu instance in Parallels for these instalaunches. Seems the Linux versions are always the first to get up and running, or at least are easier to compile than the Windows versions.

It should... that's quite strange. I'm up to 125 connections, using the Linux client though. You could try port forwarding the P2P port (28333) but beyond that I have no idea.

Anyway, it's super hard to mine, I found one block early on worth 3 RIC but an hour has passed and nothing else since. This is with 10 i7 machines mining too.

edit, well that took awhile, but just found my second block

Well, apparently the virus alarm was a false positive. Still, I was kinda freaked out by the behavior of the client. The QT and the command line client would both do the same thing. Max of 3 connections,
then drop out. Neither of them downloaded even a single block from the chain.

Reading the bitcointalk thread, some people are saying it is NOT a false positive. I'm avoiding this just in case.

3% premine AND an IPO.

And yet I'm sure it will be stupidly successful for some reason.

New PANDA coins..

Gravity Well - check.
ASIC resistant - check.
Massive marketing push in Asia PRIOR to launch - check.
Dogecoin fame - check.

Hmm... hopefully my vertminer works for it right away. I am fed up with troubleshooting this rig for it to work with cgminer.

Source is definitely clean. Of course, I have no idea about the binaries.

Here's the diffs on github: https://github.com/riecoin/riecoin/commits/0.8.6-ric

And btw, the dev put a good amount of effort into the coin it would just make no sense if he did this to distribute infected binaries. He could have pulled that off a lot easier by just releasing just another scrypt clone. Who knows, though.

To be on the safe side you should always compile from source and never use prebuilt binaries.

Anyone have any issues with Vertminer not displaying properly? Got it compiled and running but all I see is this.

Not sure why I don't have the traditional display working.
